"After talking with several plumbers, I decided to use Southeast Plumbing and Gas. Brian answered all of my questions and quoted me a very competitive price. Brian installed a new dishwasher, put in a new tankless water heater (plus ran new electrical for the unit) and some other smaller fixes. He was professional, courteous, and did the work for what he quoted. He also tackled some additional plumbing issues that cropped up while he was doing everything else. He was at our house for over 12 hrs fixing everything and making sure everything was working properly before he left. I would definitely recommend SE Plumbing and Gas and would use them again."

"A large tree fell on my home during storm & I hired another contractor to complete repairs which included replacing 9-12 rafters/sheathing/shingles, re-building small front porch & adding 3 windows to sunroom. Original contractor installed the windows & did a lot of work on the roof but were very slow & work was sub-par.....they also had issues getting project permitted & I finally had to let them go. I was in a real bind to get repairs completed as I was in the middle of re-financing house when the storm hit. I contacted Commonwealth & they were able to come out & assess what needed to be done. They got the permits right away & got started. Most of the previous work had to be re-done....they removed the windows & added headers & proper support & re-installed, repaired roof & re-built front porch. All work was done professionally & in a timely manner. Also installed interior trim (baseboards/windowsills/frame) in sunroom, which I requested at the last minute, so house would be ready for appraisal. They did a nice job matching the original trim on older home. Would definitely hire again."

"WOW! Being on a fixed income you know EVERY dollar is important to me! I'd wanted and DRASTICALLY needed a bathroom remodel for YEARS but assumed it was WAY out of my budget! Curious though, I went shopping. Most companies estimates confirmed my worries about cost, and while some were affordable they lacked in other areas - quality, customer service, warranty, etc. When I related my findings to a friend he said members of their family had work done by a company called Intelligent Home Services and HIGHLY recommend them! His family was not only overjoyed with all aspects of the company but it increased the value of their home by much more than what it cost! So, I contacted IHS, everyone was so nice, informative, and helpful! They arranged financing was straightforward, explained and everything. It was great from start to finish! In fact I was SO HAPPY that I had Intelligent Home Services install a Screened Patio cover! EXCELLENT VALUE- THE BEST!!!"

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common installation method that can simplify plumbing and save space. However, there are important considerations. The vent and associated plumbing must be large enough to handle the demands of all fixtures without compromising the vent's effectiveness. Additionally, the toilet should always be located downstream of all other fixtures. Because requirements can vary and space might be limited, it is essential to check your local building and plumbing codes and consult with a qualified plumber to ensure the installation is done correctly.

Costs depend on sink type, labor, plumbing modifications, and whether additional fixtures need upgrading.

No, they have multiple designs. Choosing a bathroom fixture will depend in large part on the current configuration you have. You will want to pick a model that matches the faucet holes currently in your sink, countertop, or wall. If you want to make a complete changeover, you may need to buy and install a new vanity and sink at the same time you purchase your faucet.

Because it’s an engineered stone, quartz composite is much denser than other natural stone alternatives. For instance, if you drop a heavy object in a natural stone sink, there’s a chance the sink could crack, chip, or dent. Quartz’s density means quartz sinks are more resistant to scratches or staining. However, darker quartz sinks are more likely to show scratches or scuffs, and quartz sinks can stain over time.

Older faucet fixtures may have some corrosion, leaving them stuck. Try a few techniques to loosen the fixtures.

  • Wrap the fixture with a towel and tap the base with a hammer.

  • Use a putty knife to gently remove any caulk that may be holding the handle or fixture in place.

  • Apply a few drops of penetrating oil around the base of the fixture or around the nuts.

  • Purchase a faucet pulling tool to pop the fixture loose.
