Commonwealth Contracting is a residential construction company that specializes in additions, remodeling, renovation, historic restoration and new construction. We maintain a staff of 4 master carpenters and the remainder of our work i.e. plumbing, electrical, HVAC is performed by sub-contractors that have worked with Commonwealth for years. Commonwealth Contracting is owned and operated by Michael Eippert a licensed, bonded and insured South Carolina home builder (license #RBB-21528). Michael Eippert is the third generation of his family to run Commonwealth Contracting and proudly carries on the family tradition. Commonwealth Contracting offers free, no-strings attached estimates. We had a bath tub taken out and shower put in. Also, we had separate shower made into Linen Closet. They did an outstanding job. They were on time every day and always cleaned up after work.

Mike, the owner, does a great job bringing his contractors and workers in and making sure all the work gets done. We're ultimately going to have them do a future kitchen remodel, that's how strong we felt about their work. They have some wonderful craftsman and are very detail oriented. They make sure that the details are done appropriately.

I needed to add a bathroom and utility area, but did not want to increase a footprint of the house and decided to incorporate my carport into a living area. It allowed me to save on roofing and foundation, but created certain logistical difficulties in the project. Mike and his crew have creatively addressed all the issues which allowed me to maximize the living area while still being compliant with all the building codes. Work on the project was well planned and performed according to the schedule. In fact it took longer to wait for building permit from the county than the project itself. I also wanted to point out that Mike possesses a rare quality for contractor, he is very punctual and responsive. He had returned all my calls/e-mails within a day and had addressed all my concerns or requests in a timely manner. It was a pleasure to work with Mike and his crew and I would hire them for my next project without hesitation.

Mike and his team are very professional and came in within budget and on time. They were always there when they said they would be, and quickly responded to questions we had. Mike helped us not only in the construction but also in the design of the project. He considered things we had not thought about and the project turned out better than we could have imagined. Extraordinary service like none I have ever experienced. On time always, calls if 5 minutes late, quality work for reasonable cost. Very net. not a drop of dust left behind. Completed job on schedule. Extremely pleased with finished project.

Quality of work seemed high until parts of floors came unglued, grout chipping in shower, areas missed paint in garage. 6 week project turned into 10+ weeks, WAY OVER PRICED! Sometimes workers wouldnt show the entire week. Had to have dry wall workers come back multiple times because they didn’t take mirrors or towel racks down just worked around them. Workers were nice and polite when at the house. Tons of miscommunication between myself and contractor. Very frustrating remodel job.

"I'm very sorry that this member was displeased with our services. I'm also very surprised at this report for multiple reasons. First, the job was completed almost a year ago, the homeowner was pleased, and thanked me for the good work when I picked up my final check. He called me a few months later saying that there were some issues with the grout and we took care of them immediately. I've heard nothing from him since, but If there were, or are any issues with the work that we did, we'll happily fix them. Second, the primary reason that the project went from 6 weeks to 10+, was because of significant changes in the scope of work, that weren't requested until the originally contracted work had already been completed; which leads me to point number 3. This member had no issues with our pricing until he made some significant changes after work had already been completed and I had to charge him to rip out the old work and complete the new work. This member thoroughly reviewed our proposal and chose to use my company, so he was clearly comfortable with our pricing when he chose to work with us. Third, although I do agree that our scheduling and punctuality could've been better, the only time that no one showed up to his house for an entire week, was when we were waiting on materials. He is correct about the drywall guys not removing the bathroom hardware and having to make multiple trips - I apologized to him for the inconvenience and we fixed everything to his satisfaction. I admit that my team and I fell short of the mark on a few occasions during this member's project, but we didn't leave until he said he was happy, returned to repair any issues that he mentioned, and charged him fairly for all of the work we completed. I welcome this member to contact me, so that we can remedy any issues that he has with our work and discuss why he feels he was overcharged."

We are very pleased with the results of our project. The project encountered many unforeseen issues as old bathroom fixtures, kitchen cabinets and floors were taken out, however Mike had excellent solutions for every problem encountered and the additional charges to correct the unforeseen issues were very reasonable.

Highly recommend Commonwealth Contracting! We live out of state and were a bit concerned about doing a total renovation. However, after speaking with other contractors, reading previous reviews, then meeting Mike Eippert, we knew he was perfect for us and our project. We were not disappointed! Not only did Mike and his team deliver exactly what was promised, they kept us informed every step of the way with phone calls and pictures. They answered every email and phone call no matter the time, and the job was finished before the deadline! Thank you Commonwealth Contracting for making our home truly something to be proud of! A large tree fell on my home during storm & I hired another contractor to complete repairs which included replacing 9-12 rafters/sheathing/shingles, re-building small front porch & adding 3 windows to sunroom. Original contractor installed the windows & did a lot of work on the roof but were very slow & work was sub-par.....they also had issues getting project permitted & I finally had to let them go. I was in a real bind to get repairs completed as I was in the middle of re-financing house when the storm hit. I contacted Commonwealth & they were able to come out & assess what needed to be done. They got the permits right away & got started. Most of the previous work had to be re-done....they removed the windows & added headers & proper support & re-installed, repaired roof & re-built front porch. All work was done professionally & in a timely manner. Also installed interior trim (baseboards/windowsills/frame) in sunroom, which I requested at the last minute, so house would be ready for appraisal. They did a nice job matching the original trim on older home. Would definitely hire again.

I had a difficult time finding someone who was willing to do a "small job" like ours so I went to Angie's List and decided to give Commonwealth Contracting a try. At our first meeting Michael Eippert was actually a few minutes early. He was very personable and helpful and his estimate was sent in a timely manner. It was very reasonable (especially compared to some others I had received). I was very impressed with Mike's entire crew. They were always on time, professional and hard working. Time after time they stated they wanted us to be happy with the work. The final result was amazing and my husband and I were so pleased!! I have recommended Commonwealth Contracting to several of my friends and I will definitely use them again if needed.

Mike and his crews were wonderful! They were on time and the most polite group you'd ever meet. They always cleaned up and the end of the work day and made sure the area was secure so my cat wouldn't escape. As far as I am concerned the work was top notch. I absolutely LOVE my new bathrooms.

I feel Commonwealth Contracting is very easy to work with. Mike Eippert always responds to any questions we may have had during the process of the work. This is the second major renovation we have had done with "Commonwealth" and both times we were very happy with the results. I will say you need to be patient with how long the project may take. We realized all of these contractors are extremely very busy at this time. However, quality was much more important to me than speed, and all of the work we had done is outstanding. As far as price they are not the cheapest nor the most expensive, however, I feel comfortable that what we paid for the complete renovation was very fair. To me "Quality" of work done is most important and that is what "Commonwealth" provides.

The job was scheduled to start on April 21st, however, a site they were working had a structural issue develop and they called to let me know and the work on my site began on the 25th. as rescheduled. They began each day on time and ended later than usual if necessary. They sealed their work area to ensure the dust and debris didn't get into my living area during their work time. I was impressed with the quality of work done. The staff paid attention to detail and made sure everything met my satisfaction. I was pleased with the courtesy and professionalism of the staff. They were very cognizant of the fact that they were in a person's home and were very polite and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone that I hear needs work done.

This customer actually sent me a thank you card with my final payment, so I'm very surprised at this negative review. We completed all of the items that we were contracted to do and quite a few more and aside from a few minor issues that we quickly corrected, this customer had nothing but praise for our work. This customer was on site almost every day and was a part of every decision that was made throughout his project. What this customer describes as not being consulted on major decisions, was actually he and his wife changing their minds at the last minute and expecting us to rip out work that had been in place for over a month at no extra charge. I'm sorry if this customer is unhappy with his experience with our company, but we did everything that we could to make him happy"
