"Joe from JMS Drain Services was my service technician who arrived well within the window scheduled service time. Joe came in, inspected the sink to determine how to resolve my issue, took out the tool (snake apparatus) to clear the sink, and departed my premises within 15 minutes. I was pleased he resolved my clogged sink so quickly so I could rest after a night's work. Thank you again, Joe."

"Mr. Turner helped me with repairs on my old house and is helping me update my new Condo. He’s installed my laminate flooring, a shiplap accent wall, hung my tv’s and built and installed a barn door. With his construction knowledge, positive attitude, professionalism and work ethics, I would highly recommend Mr. Turner to anyone needing help with their home projects."

"After giving us an estimate in Dec 2014 and constantly following up with us they earned our business. They installed 8 piers and 3 beams under our home and what a difference! Just walking across the floors feels so sturdy. Now that this has been completed we can begin working on our kitchen remodel. Thanks Again!

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

The cost to pipe a sink depends on the location. Generally, you’ll spend somewhere from $150 to $500 installing plumbing under a kitchen sink and $200 to $800 installing plumbing under a bathroom sink. These costs could rise if you don’t have a plumbing hookup nearby and you have to reroute plumbing from outside of your kitchen or bathroom.

If you have the patience and help to install a kitchen sink, you can do it yourself. This DIY project works best when replacing a sink that fits the existing hole, and the fittings and plumbing are in good condition. If you're worried about the plumbing's condition or aren't sure how to shut the water and power off to the garbage disposal and dishwasher, it's best left to a sink installation pro.

Deteriorated seals, O-rings, or gaskets are common culprits behind a leaky sink after you’ve turned off the water—especially if your sink is older than 15 years. Inspect each of these mechanisms in your sink for signs of corrosion or looseness, then replace the worn-out part to fix it. Older sinks may be worth replacing if several of the parts are worn-out.

Local plumbing codes and manufacturer recommendations typically dictate the minimum distance between a sink and a dishwasher. This is generally 18 to 24 inches, providing enough room for easy loading and unloading of dishes without hindering the sink's function. Maintaining this separation not only adds convenience but also reduces the chances of water damage and optimizes plumbing connections.

Porcelain and enamel sinks have very similar appearances, but they aren’t the same. Porcelain is a ceramic made from natural clay, while enamel is a strong powder that’s glazed over a metal sink. Use a magnet to determine whether you have an enamel or porcelain sink. If a strong magnet sticks to the sink, it’s likely enamel. If it doesn’t, you probably have a porcelain sink. You can also use the model number on the sink (often found on the underside of the bowl) or information from the manufacturer to determine the material.
