Customers say: Quick response

"Following the storm I had serious concern that a damaged and rather large limb positioned over the main roof of my home could possibly break during the next storm. I found 'AAA" in the yellow pages (before I joined Angie's List). I contacted Brenda and explained what I needed done and asked for an estimate. I also asked her to have her insurance company fax a copy of their policy on 'AAA' directly to my office. I work out of town and made all of the arrangements by telephone. The estimate that she gave was very, very reasonable. Following the first estimate I attempted to change the scope of work somewhat. Brenda was at my home at that time so it was easy to convey to her what my change entailed. After some further discussion we agreed upon a new price for the work. The additional work that I wanted done was substantial. I asked her to give me a second estimate 'on the spot.' I judged the new price as fair consider the amount of work and time it would likely take. She had at least 5 men on the job, which began very soon after we agreed on the new price. Incidentally, I was very specific about how I wanted the cur would dropped in my yard. I wanted the wood for my fireplace. This was 'payback' for the damage to my porch roof that I incurred during the first storm. It took Brenda's crew roughly 3 hours and work was done. I spoke to my wife (who remained inside our home the entire time). She hardly noticed that they were above and around the house doing their work. I did instruct my wife to look at where the cut wood had been dropped and to make certain that nothing was damage during the work (such as: air conditioner, utility trailer and fence). Everything appeared to my wife to be fine. She then wrote a check for the job, at the agreed upon price and Brenda and her crew left the premises. My wife did say that there were 3 vehicles, one of which was a 'bucket' truck. (Incidentally, the truck was carefully driven over the front lawn and there was no damage done to any of our shrubs or rose bushes, etc.). I am a very satisfied customer. I called Brenda up and told her how pleased I was and mentioned that I would write a FAVORABLE review in Angie's List."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Annual professional inspections are the most critical factor for successful gas log service. Greer’s humid climate causes rapid component corrosion and encourages spiders to nest inside dormant burner orifices. Protect your system by managing firebox moisture with a chimney cap and damper cover during the off-season. Always hire licensed contractors to ensure your installation complies with SC building codes and uses the correct fuel configuration for your specific property.

Helpful?

Before scheduling gas log service, check the batteries in your remote or wall switch. With the gas supply fully shut off, carefully remove visible debris or spider webs from the firebox. Never attempt to clear the burner ports yourself. Test your carbon monoxide detectors before the SC winter begins. If you smell gas at your Greer home, leave immediately and call your local utility emergency line from a safe distance.

Helpful?

Your home is an excellent candidate for gas log service if you already have natural gas appliances or a structurally sound masonry fireplace. Older Greer properties often require a chimney inspection first, as regional humidity causes mortar deterioration. If you live in an outlying SC area without natural gas, you must configure your system for propane. Always verify local venting requirements, as vent-free systems have strict room-size restrictions.

Helpful?

Greer experiences high year-round humidity and heavy spring pollen, which accelerates corrosion and clogs burner ports. Because winters are mild, your system sits dormant for long periods. This extended downtime invites spiders to nest in burner orifices. Ice storms can also prompt sudden, heavy use after inactivity. Schedule an annual gas log service inspection to clear debris and ensure your system operates safely when freezing weather hits SC.

Helpful?

Adding or updating gas log service directly impacts your HVAC system. Gas logs provide supplemental heat, which changes how your heat pump cycles during cold Greer winters. Vented systems share your masonry chimney, requiring a thorough sweep to remove old wood-burning creosote. In newer, tightly sealed SC homes, vent-free logs introduce combustion byproducts into your living space. Always have a professional evaluate your gas meter capacity and home ventilation.
