24 years of experience

Elite Carpentry is a family owned and operated Construction Company right in the heart of the Lowcountry. We currently have four employees in order to focus our attention to each individual project consecutively. We only sub-contract for specialties such as electric or plumbing when involved in a particular project. Billing is determined on a case by case basis. Each project will require an agreed upon contract in order to guarantee comfort and security for the customer. The details of the contract vary but will outline the chosen method of payment. Material costs must be allocated prior to commencement of labor. Labor payments are determined by the needs of the customer. Common methods are: - Stage by Stage. Each stage will be outlined during the planning process. At the conclusion of each stage, payment is required before progressing to the following stage. This provides flexibility to the customer in case satisfaction of work is not met or customer chooses a new direction. - Weekly. For projects that are enduring and are realistically expected to span over a longer period of time. If the customer chooses, they can decided on a weekly payment process based on hours worked in order to satisfy their budget. - Upon Completion. This option is typically reserved to smaller scale projects. If a project is specific in nature and not expected to last more than a significant period of time or expected to be high in cost, the customer can choose to pay upon completion of services. In this situation, the customer must pay for all material cost before labor is performed. This option is at the discretion of Elite Carpentry. Financing Options are available depending on complexity and total cost of work. These options are on a case by case basis and will require a notarized contract signed by the customer and Elite Carpentry, LLC before any labor is performed or materials are purchased. A 10% discount in Labor Fees is applied to all Military, Law Enforcement, Firefighter and Education Professionals. A customer's career in a dedicated public service such as those listed above are highly valued to our company. Members of the public and federal service community are too often under compensated for their services and we would like to help share the appreciation for these men and women.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Carpenters are trained to take on a wide range of home projects. You can hire a carpenter to do framing, roofing, build custom furniture, and make significant upgrades to your home. General carpenters are usually able to handle most jobs. However, you may also choose to hire a carpenter who specializes in a specific type of carpentry.

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

While most house creaking is expected to some extent and under normal conditions, it's not a good idea to ignore new noises. If other problems accompany the creakiness, like cement cracks, wobbly or loose stair components, or moving trimwork, it's time to look into the potential for foundation trouble or other structural problems.

Yes, you can replace the frame around a window by completing either a partial replacement or a full replacement. With a partial replacement, your window specialist will remove the trim around the window and replace or repair just the damaged portion. For a full replacement, your tech will need to remove the window, replace the frame, and then reinstall the window.
