"Great team to work with - very responsive and professional. Paul and Cassandra worked with our condo association to get approval for the foundation crack repair. Proposal detailed the intended repair with pix. Paul did the repairs, cleaned up the work site. Repairs look great - have dried to roughly match the existing concrete as Paul said! Many thanks!"

"Very hard to find contractors these days who follow through. This crew was reliable and professional. They stayed on the job until it was complete. We now have a beautiful patio and artificial turf area at our little neighborhood bar. Will use them again!"

"I was not able to meet the gentleman from the company, so had a friend do so.  I understood they use some type of "glue" product to solve basement leaks from concrete wall and wasn't interested in resolving.

"To remediate seepage along the bottom of a concrete-block basement wall that backs onto a hill, Mastercraft Waterproofing recommended and installed a drainage system along the interior bottom of the wall. From initial consult to the end of the job, I found M W owner Rob Racki to be very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and easy to work with. He and his partner finished the job on the earlier end of the time estimated, and left the work area spotless. They took and provided me with photos of the work in progress, which will be valuable when I decide to sell my home. I also appreciate that they were willing to wear masks during our face-to-face conversations. The only reason I rated Value for Money with 3 stars was that theirs was the only estimate I got for the job, so I have no other price to compare with."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

If you want to make your home eco-friendly, enjoy low maintenance, and love the fact that its looks will take people’s breath away (and not because they were trying to blow your house down), then a modern brick home is right for you. You can hire a mason to get the building process started for your brick home.

But if you’re not fond of the color and don’t want to deal with the process of repointing or other repairs, consider going with vinyl or wood. These materials offer a lower cost. While they tend to require more maintenance, they don’t cost nearly the same as exterior brick house repair.

Always work with licensed and certified masons in your area when installing a stone wall or even a stone veneer. Just like all home designers, they should provide an impressive portfolio and offer a free estimate for the project. Pick the pro who fits your budget and schedule and, most importantly, helps you realize your landscape vision.

Yes, it is essential to prime or seal a brick fireplace before painting. Brick is a porous and highly absorbent material, so without a primer, paint can seep into the surface, resulting in uneven coverage and allowing the natural brick color to show through. To avoid this, apply one or two coats of a masonry primer. The primer will seal the brick and provide a smooth, uniform layer for the paint to adhere to. Ensure the primer is completely dry before applying the topcoat of paint.

Masonry work tends to be more expensive because the materials can be costly, such as natural stone and brick. Masonry is also very labor intensive, typically making up 50% or more of the final project cost. In addition, quality masonry work requires years of training and experience, as with any skilled trade.

Yes, limewash on brick can accumulate dust over time. Its porous nature can attract dust particles, especially in environments with high levels of dust or dirt. Additionally, if the limewash surface is left unsealed, it may be more prone to collecting dust. Additionally, incorrectly applied limewash will generate dust. Causes include applying it too thickly instead of thin layers and not allowing enough drying time between layers. Regular maintenance, such as gentle cleaning or dusting, can help mitigate dusty issues.
