We had new front door trim applied and one front stair railing re-installed. All work was professionally done Our 100 year old house never looked so good. Bryen Josiman and his co-worker whose name we can’t remember , except he was from Brazil did a great job. Awesome!!! We highly recommend them and Couto Construction.

Zero stars. This is one of the worst construction companies in the state. Do yourself a a favor and do not call them because they will never show up. Tina and Kylie are incompetent, unprofessional, and do not belong in customer service. If you do a little more research, it becomes quite obvious that their positive reviews were either purchased or left by employees working at Couto.

Marco and Marcelo did a fantastic job installing my gutters last week. I have never met contractors as polite, courteous and more importantly totally accommodating than these gentleman. They were organized, very neat and worked right through the oppressive heat and did not complain once. I cannot say enough about the job they did - unbelievable.

I had a tree stake my deck and the corner of my house. Everything went great from the initial quote to the finished repairs. Kevin and Logan were very communicative by text and showed up on time and sent pictures of the progress. This was important since I couldn't be there most of the time. The finished work was excellent.

My husband and I are very happy with the work Rafael and Daniel did today. We needed the vent on our roof removed. They came at almost exactly 7:30 (as they promised) and were done by 9:30. They were polite and did an awesome job. Would highly recommend.

The Couto Construction crew consist of Devyn, Logan and Kevin. They greeted with a positive and friendly manner. They came to install 10 window replacements. They are definitely, professional and efficient men. They did the 10 windows in one day. They took out the 10 old stubborn windows and replace with 10 new window replacements. Each of them definitely did their job fantastic. They took out the old windows, place the new ones, seal, etc. When they finish their job, they clean up outside and inside the home. I was shown the functions of the window. I tried the window and it is fantastic to open and clean. I will definitely recommend to my family and friends to have Couto Construction do the job needed for their home.

Roof Cleaning
I am a retired municipal building inspector so I have seen a few jobs, but rarely deal with actual prices. I never saw any bad work done in jurisdictions by Couto so I gave them a call for an estimate on my home. I was shocked at the estimate they gave me and the over the top, unnecessary options they proposed. Their estimate was 50% higher than the average of the others. From what I have seen they do good work but their proposed cost was in the strata sphere and totally unnecessary. Shop wisely, their are others out there that do good work for less money.

Unfortunately my experience with Couto Construction has proven to be the costliest mistake I’ve ever made, in terms of money and stress. I would never recommend them for any large job of any complexity or requiring good craftsmanship. After interviewing three contractors for extensive exterior work on my house, Couto Construction, although coming in with the highest estimate, was selected based on the company’s overall great reviews on Angi’s List and high Better Business Bureau rating. The company's representatives also seemed to understand the project goal. The co-owner expressed enthusiasm about working on what he called a “legacy project” and assured me that the company had workmen with the necessary skills to complete the job well. The contract was signed July 18, 2020. Work began January 22, 2021 and stopped March 10, 2021, totaling approximately 29 working days. Work on the front of the house was not completed pending agreement on an acceptable work plan and estimate for repair of the front porch, which was not able to be assessed until the aluminum siding had been stripped. This work was dealt with in a separate contract. The crews were very hard working but the emphasis was on speed over quality, resulting in careless mistakes and mediocre workmanship. On April 10, 2021 an email was sent to the owners of Couto Construction expressing concern with the quality of the work done to date, much of which became fully apparent after the snow had melted from the roof and the temperatures began to get warmer. These issues included chipped and lifting roof shingles; peaks and valleys along the newly installed ridge vent; bent, dented and dog-earred drip edges; and warped, lifting siding shingles. While the company has addressed some of these issues, its response has been slow, incomplete and of mixed success. Between April 21 and September 7, 2021, Couto workmen spent approximately 12-15 days on site and as many days in meetings or text message exchanges in response to my inquiries about when these issues would be fully addressed. Typically a workman would show up for 1-2 days, then weeks would go by with no word from the contractor until I texted or phoned, then the pattern would repeat itself. Rectifying the issues with my contract has clearly been secondary to quickly turning over smaller, more lucrative projects. To date, about ¾ of the roof issues have been addressed with mixed results; and no viable solution to the shingle siding problems were found. Though the siding was not installed according to the instructions on the product packaging, the contractor is stating that the shingles were faulty (which is being denied by the manufacturer) and were already warped out coming out of the box. If that was the case, a professional installer should not have put a warped product up in the first place. In February 2022 two options were presented to Couto to resolve the siding stalemate. Option 1 proved unfeasible and the company has been silent on option 2 since March. It is outrageous that I should still be dealing with this 1 ½ years after work began and almost 2 years after the contract was originally signed. I cannot express my level of frustration with this company.

The supervisor Andy Milien is one of the most kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and understanding people I have had the pleasure of knowing during our construction work. If I could give him 10 stars I would. When problems arises, and there were a few, he said he would remedy them...no questions, no complaint. The office is not so easy to work with: Couto should adhere to the customer service rule: 1). The customer is always right. 2). If the customer is wrong...refer back to number 1.
