Even the estimator admitted he didn't explore what he needed to, and that he did not know the local codes. Worse, they did not show integrity when a problem arose with work they had done previously. "Steve's price for the work was significantly better than the other two proposals I got, so based on that and his great ratings I accepted his proposal and plans were made to do the work about two weeks later. Steve and his assistant Mario arrived on time and got right to work. The kitchen and living room jobs went fine and the work looks good. In the shower, however, the installed light was placed far off from the center of the shower, making it look odd. Steve said that the placement was due to a joist in the attic that passed very near the center of the shower. However, when I went into the attic I saw that the light could have been placed on the other side of the joist, in which case it would have been much closer to the center of the shower. I'm guessing that he was rushing to finish the job in one day, so he didn't take the time to check this out. I also had an odd interaction with Steve when I asked about installing a second light switch on the other side of the kitchen, where there's a second entrance. Instead of discussing the options and costs, he just asked me if I really needed it. I interpreted that to mean he didn't want to do that job, at least on that day, so I dropped my request. To contrast that, I'll mention that when the original light installed in the shower seemed too bright for the space, I asked Steve to get a less bright replacement, which he brought by the next day without complaint. Additionally, he is prompt in replying to emails. My overall rating would have been an "A" if the shower light had been placed on the other side of the joist. Because it was not, and because of the strange interaction described above, I'm unsure if I would hire Steve again. If I did, it might be only for work that would not be visible."
