His work was precise, clean And completed per my needs, It took me several months to find a contractor that I could trust in my house, I was confident in him at 1st meeting, I stayed away from project until completed, and was not disappointed, I would recommend and rehire ,if you want a worry free job ,done with integrity, this is your contractor."

"We needed a whole new a/c system for our house. We looked at a few different companies in the area and decided to go with Maitz Home Services. Chris and Jerry came out to do the install. They were on time. They were very professional and nice. They were very knowledgeable about the whole system and how it works and good at explaining all of it. They left the workspace very clean after themselves. We are very happy with the job they did."

"I recently had the pleasure of utilizing CM Plumbing and Mechanical for the installation of a new tankless water heater, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the initial consultation to the completion of the installation, Cody and his team were incredibly professional and efficient. What impressed me the most was their responsiveness to my urgent situation. With my previous water heater on the verge of rusting through and potentially flooding my basement, CM Plumbing and Mechanical were able to fit me into their schedule quickly, providing much-needed peace of mind. Cody's attention to detail and willingness to explain the installation process and how to operate the new system were invaluable. He took the time to ensure that I was comfortable and informed me every step of the way, which I greatly appreciated. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend CM Plumbing and Mechanical to anyone in need of plumbing services. Their expertise, professionalism, and commitment to customer satisfaction are truly commendable. I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to them again for any future needs."

Small jobs welcome

"Prompt, friendly, reliable, and called me back within a decent amount of time. I had them come out to discuss alternative options to baseboard heat. I ended up installing ac/heat split units with cell phone capabilities for controlling them from my primary home. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. I am extremely pleased with the outcome of their work."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Heat pumps are significantly more efficient than boilers, typically providing three to four times the amount of heat for the electricity they consume. While boilers run on fossil fuels, heat pumps use only electricity. This efficiency can lead to long-term savings on operating and maintenance costs. However, heat pumps have a higher upfront installation price compared to boilers. Despite their lower efficiency, boilers remain a popular choice for many homeowners, with 8 million in the United States alone, due to their lower initial cost and less intensive installation process. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your home's infrastructure, your budget, and your personal heating priorities.

If you hear your radiator clanking even when it’s turned off, it’s typically because there’s trapped water or air in the system, causing a pressure buildup. When you hear significant clanking, popping, crackling, or banging in a radiator that’s turned off, you’ll want to bleed the pipes or call in an HVAC specialist to deal with the problem (and prevent it from happening in the future).

Safety concerns with propane boilers include proper venting to prevent carbon monoxide buildup, secure gas line connections, and regular inspection of safety controls. Professional boiler installation and annual maintenance are essential to minimize risks. Having a carbon monoxide detector installed in your home is essential for early detection of any leaks or ventilation issues.

The primary differences between a heat pump and a boiler are their function and how they produce heat. A heat pump is a versatile system that provides both heating and cooling by moving ambient air and altering its temperature. In contrast, a boiler is solely a heating system, often working with a furnace or AC unit as part of a larger HVAC system. In terms of heat production, a heat pump generates heat more slowly and at a lower temperature, requiring a large convector for distribution. A boiler, however, produces a large amount of high-temperature heat that it emits through smaller radiators.

You can save money on heating oil through a combination of improving home efficiency and smart purchasing strategies.

Home Efficiency and Usage:

  • Improve Insulation: Ensure your home, especially the basement and attic, is well-insulated and sealed against drafts to prevent heat leakage.

  • Manage Your Thermostat: Use a properly calibrated and programmable thermostat. Lower the temperature by a few degrees, particularly when you are away from home or asleep.

Purchasing Strategies:

  • Buy in the Off-Season: Order heating oil during the summer months when prices are generally at their lowest. This strategy is most effective if you have a large primary tank or a separate storage tank to accommodate bulk deliveries.

  • Consider a Delivery Contract: Some companies offer contracts with a set price for the term. This can lead to savings if market prices for oil increase, but you might pay more if prices drop.
