"When Martin showed up on time to provide an estimate for the Drywall, I knew Martin would be a good fit for the project. The estimate was reasonable, and his work ethic is excellent. He works hard, and did professional work and completed the project in a reasonable amount of time. Would highly recommend him for drywall projects."

"Brian Kalanish is an excellent plasterer. We have used him before and his work still looks great years later. This time, as before, he did an excellent job. He is nice, easy to communicate with, and his prices are reasonable. I would hire him again and I recommend him."

"Our front and back entrances were badly chipped and cracked. We knew it would be a tedious task to scrape and sand, and Zack did a great job at both and vacuumed so well that there was never a mess. The painting around all of the windows of the doors was exact! He also installed a new dead bolt, door knob and a new handle on the screen door. It all looks brand new! The inside of that door was also done, and what a difference it made. Our French doors needed to be restained and again, no mess and perfectly stained around each window. He is so meticulous. Zach was professional, communicated exactly what the job needed and was always timely. I strongly recommend him."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, a fan can help drywall mud dry faster by improving air circulation and reducing humidity in the room. Drywall mud dries through evaporation, so increasing airflow speeds up this process. However, you should position the fan to blow across the room rather than directly on the wet mud. This helps prevent drying too quickly, which can cause cracking. You should also use a dehumidifier if high humidity is an issue.

Yes, you can put paneling over textured walls. Of course, this will come down to personal preference and the type of paneling you want to install. From board-and-batten to shiplap and wainscoting, there are plenty of options to choose from.

New plaster must be fully dry and cured before painting. The drying time for plaster ranges from 1 to 4 hours, but the curing process can take more than five days, depending on various factors, including humidity levels, temperature, the amount of plaster used, and airflow in the area. You should always apply primer before painting plaster.

Plastering lasts for around 15 to 20 years without needing repairs or maintenance in most cases, and with proper upkeep, plastering can last a lifetime—sometimes more than 100 years. Plaster repair costs between $1 and $3 per square foot, and you may need these services once every 15 to 20 years or so unless you have a harsh climate where humidity changes are a constant issue. You can also opt to skim-coat plaster for between $0.90 and $1.30 per square foot, which may serve you better in the long run.

If you suspect black mold is inside your walls, do not punch a hole in the drywall yourself to look. Call a mold inspection expert to help you. Some signs of a potential black mold infestation inside the wall include an unexplained musty, damp smell. Some people liken it to rotting vegetables. You may smell it most strongly through a wall outlet. If you and your family are experiencing constant coughing or symptoms that feel like an unexplained allergy, it could indicate black mold behind a wall.
