"We had years of chronic wet basement problems. French drain that had been installed 40 years ago was no longer functional. We had several contractors in to provide estimates to excavate basement perimeter, replace conduit in trench, and install a sump pump. Estimates were all over the place, from $5000 to $21,000. Finally selected AJ Waterproofing based on price (not the lowest but one of the most reasonable), previous reviews, videos, and AJ's explanation of what was necessary and what wasn't. AJ did not try to upsell us, took the time to explain exactly what would be done, guaranteed his work. The crew arrived on time, were polite and had clean work habits. In fact, when they discovered the drain in basement washtub was clogged, one guy took the drain apart, cleared the debris, and put it back together just as a courtesy. Work was completed on time, as promised. I would not hesitate to recommend AJ and team."

"It went great. Billy Pearsall came over and fixed the problem the same day I called. Both our bathroom tub and sink never drained well, and now they do. Billy was competent, pleasant, polite, and respectful of our home. I highly recommend Valdel and Billy Pearsall."

"Jack did an excellent job with replacing the sewer pump. He offered helpful advice in diagnosing the issue and selecting the pump. After the job was done, he even sent his guys over again to install a second valve with no charge to fix a minor issue. Thank you, Jack, for a wonderful job!!!!"

"Martini Plumbing Provides me with superior service. Technicians Rob and Dan took the time to ensure I understood what needed to be done. They went the extra mile to work with my insurance adjuster and restoration company. They made a stressful situation easier to deal with. Went the extra mile and worked late to ensure we had working plumbing and hot water."

"Jeff, Rob and his crew were exceptional They answered all of my questions even took the time to show me how things worked. They installed a water catch basin and sump pump to replace our smaller 25 year old equipment. Jeff suggested a better pump They were meticulous in their work and cleanup except for the new pump you would not even know they're there. I would recommend ONCE&DONE for any of your waterproofing needs Thank you ONCE&DONE"

"I hired them to unclog a toilet. Got a next day appointment. Patrick was helpful and courteous in scheduling and quoting the job. Justin came early and asked questions to understand the problem and what I had already tried to clear the drain. Within 15 minutes he had the drain running. Good service at a good price. I would use them again."

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

While sometimes used interchangeably, screen doors and storm doors have key differences. Screen doors are simple structures, typically composed of just a frame and a screen, designed to keep out bugs while allowing air circulation. In contrast, storm doors are heavier and more complex, built to protect your home's main entry door from weather and intruders. They usually feature an aluminum frame with interchangeable tempered glass and screen panels, allowing you to switch between ventilation and insulation. A storm door offers more protection and versatility but generally costs more than a basic screen door.

Storm door panels are typically made from tempered or laminated glass, and each type has its benefits. Tempered glass goes through a special heating and cooling process, increasing its strength and durability. It’s known for its safety features—when it breaks, it shatters into small, relatively harmless pieces rather than sharp shards. Laminated glass is made by sandwiching a layer of plastic between two layers of glass. This interlayer holds the glass pieces together even when shattered, preventing them from scattering.

There are several types of storm doors, including vinyl-clad, steel-clad, aluminum, and wood-core, and each type has its own benefits. For example, vinyl-clad storm doors are excellent at keeping out water, while steel-clad storm doors hold up well against high winds. There are also multiple styles of storm doors, ranging from full-view (made entirely of glass) to high-view (with just a small glass panel).

Storm handles using universal hole spacings are interchangeable regardless of brand and model. However, some older models may require specific hardware. In these cases, we recommend replacing your storm door altogether instead of spending hours looking for a replacement part online. Newer models also tend to be more durable and efficient, so a new storm door could be a worthy investment.

No, a storm door should not replace a regular door. It lacks the durability, insulation, and security of a proper exterior door. Most storm doors have lightweight frames and minimal locking hardware, and they aren’t meant to stand alone. While they work well as a backup to your main entry door, relying on one as your only barrier would likely lead to drafts, higher energy bills, and safety concerns.
