"They performed the work quickly and the guy was nice but the charge was 480 for a clearing a basement accessible drain. Got quotes from other for 150-350~ for clearing the same drain but wouldn’t come out as soon as DE plumbing pros. Seems very overpriced and wouldn’t use again unless I absolutely had to. Their customer service was good and theirs plumbers professional."

"My problem was water coming in around a door in the finished section of my basement when it rains. The door opens to a concrete stairwell that leads up to a set of Bilco doors, then to the outside. I’ve had several water proofers give me their opinion and an estimate. Most wanted to install a French drain under my basement floor and a sump pump for $9,000+. My concerns with this is that water was not coming up from the ground, but down from the bilco doors. A.J. from A.J. Waterproofing came to look at my problem the same day I called him. He determined that rain water was coming in from the front of the bilco doors. His solution was to seal and water proof the cracks/holes/voids in the stairwell, inside and out and place a cement slab in front of and partially around the bilco doors on the outside. In addition, he installed an optional sump pump for added insurance. Total was $3,000. A.J. and his crew arrived on time, all were polite and courteous, and completed the job in one day. When the work was complete, everything was cleaned up to a cleaner state than it was before they arrived. Seriously, there was not a speck of dirt in the stairwell or in my basement…and they were all throughout my basement. My wife and I were very impressed at this. So far, no water and the stairwell has been completely dry. Overall, A.J. diagnosed the specific problem, proposed a reasonable solution, and completed work in a very professional way. At no point, did I ever feel like he was just trying to BS me. From start to finish, I felt a level of trust and comfort that is all too uncommon these days. I highly recommend A.J. Waterproofing to anyone needing this type of work."

"Problem: Fractured drain pipe inside basement foundation wall. Outstanding work by all involved. Marybeth was very courteous on the phone. Ryan arrived on time, assessed the requirement and quoted an estimate of cost. Done Right's price was similar to the other two bids. All were about $1K higher than expected; but probably reasonable in light of the +4 hours of hard labor involved. The following week. Colin and Jamiel arrived on time, assessed the situation, and quickly went to work. They manually excavated +3 feet of dirt and clay between the vent pipe and outside wall, and removed the fractured section of drain pipe. They discovered the main drain line had settled deeper into the ground, which probably caused the pipe to split inside the basement. They expanded the original opening in the foundation wall to align and connect the old and new pieces, applied hydralic cement to fill the gaps, refilled the hole, and cleaned up the entire work areas, including the front entry way. Jamiel and Ryan did an outstanding and professional job, working expertly together as a team. Unfortunately when it rained heavily three days later, there was water seeping through the concrete patch. Two days later, Done Right sent Ryan and Adam to correct the issue. They chished out the cement and completely resealed the entire area. Fortunately, when it rained again, the new cement patch worked fine with no leaks. Adam and Ryan did an outstanding jod. Done Right honored its three year warranty for parts and labor. We will call Done Right again for our future plumbing needs and recommend to neighbors for their quality workmanship, commitment to excellence, courtesy, and professionalism."

"Work was done in a timely manner. Done one day early. My only disappointment was that they cut down some drywall we had just installed with our brand new mini Split system. Other than that the basement looks great and they were reachable when needed."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

Yes, frozen pipes can prevent a toilet from working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which means your toilet tank won't be able to refill after a flush. This will prevent the toilet from flushing again. Depending on which lines are frozen, the ice can also block the drain pipe, preventing water from flushing away.

As a temporary workaround, you can manually add water to the tank for each flush. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try filling the toilet bowl or tank with warm water and flushing to help thaw the ice. However, the best long-term solution is to unfreeze the pipes to get your toilet back in working order.

Avoid flushing non-degradable items, schedule regular inspections, and address minor clogs promptly.

Never pour used motor oil down the drain. Doing so can have serious environmental consequences, including contaminating groundwater, endangering animals, and killing vegetation. It can also clog your pipes, causing backups in your plumbing or the wastewater treatment plant. In most places, pouring motor oil down the drain is illegal, whether you do it in your home or a storm drain.

A clogged air gap can cause a dishwasher not to drain. There are, however, other potential issues that can lead to improper drainage. For example, if you have attached the air gap to a garbage disposal and forgotten to remove the knockout plug, wastewater may backflow into the dishwasher. Check that the air gap is installed properly, and then look for clogs in the air gap and dishwasher filters.
