"I had the quote done in December and was hoping to nurse my 44 year-old boiler through 1 more winter. Well my boiler said it’s final goodbye in January-2019 so I moved forward with a new hot water boiler. I was able to schedule the installation within less than a week which I thought was good. The installation took the better part of a full day but was not really much of a bother as the team was able to access the basement through the bilco doors on the street. At the end they walked me through all of the work completed, answered questions and let me know to call them if there were any problems. A month into use it’s working perfectly and I am very happy about the whole process."

"I was fortunate to find Doug Heath through the Service Magic website. After having several issues with a different company, I decided to look for someone else to clean and maintain my heating system in my new home, and I'm glad I did. Doug was knowledgeable, courteous, and most importantly, punctual and professional. He was at my home on time, and walked me through every step of the process. He even installed a programmable thermostat I had for a fair price. Overall, his prices were good, and his workmanship was even better. I would definitely recommend Doug Heath to others, and will use him again for any and all maintenance purposes. Thanks!"

"Furnace was not operating because the company's automatic delivery system ran me out of oil.
Technician showed up promptly and got the furnace operating but could not get heat into the house. Had to reschedule to have zone valves replaced. Technician show up late and didn't have the required parts. Had to reschedule again.
The third technician showed up on time with all the correct parts and worked most of the day to get the system operating properly.
He was completely knowledgeable and very conciencious that everything was working correctly.

"Patriot was awesome from the start. I got 3 estimates for the same Trane AC units, removal of 2 very old systems and install of 2 new systems and they were the best price by far and offered a 2 year labor warranty on top of it. The removal and install went great and Will wouldn’t leave until I was 100% satisfied with everything. Highly recommend them for any heating or air conditioning needs."

"Dante and Joe took great care of us when our furnace failed in the recent cold spell. The other people we called couldn’t come out for days but Valley Green was able to fit us in right away and were cheaper than the other company which was trying to take advantage of our urgent problem. If you want an honest locally owned business, I recommend them 100%."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Coolant and antifreeze are technically not the same thing. The difference between the two is the ratio of water to other chemicals. True antifreeze is mainly made up of either ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, while coolant comprises one part antifreeze and one part water. However, the terms coolant and antifreeze are often used interchangeably, even by pros.

Yes, government incentives and programs are available to encourage energy-efficient upgrades in many regions. These incentives may include tax credits, rebates, grants, and low-interest loans for homeowners who invest in energy-efficient improvements such as HVAC system upgrades, insulation, and efficient windows. The availability and specific details of these incentives can vary by location, so check with your local government or utility company to explore your options.

The main difference between an outdoor wood furnace versus an outdoor wood boiler is what each appliance is heating. An outdoor wood furnace burns wood to create heat, which warms the air and moves it through the ducts in your home. An outdoor wood boiler uses the heat from burning wood to warm water, which goes through pipes to radiators in the home.

A furnace is a big unit where gas, heating oil, or electricity heats the air. The warmed air is then pushed back out through ducts and vents.

A boiler uses electricity, heating oil, or gas to heat water that is pushed into the room through a radiator. This is one of the oldest and most effective ways to heat a house, but radiators can also be unsightly and leave hot and cold spots in the room.

Heat pumps use a refrigerant to move heat from outside into the house and return it to the room through ducts and vents.

Warmed or cooled air can escape your home through drafty windows and doors. If you notice any gaps, be sure to caulk and seal them. You can also hire a local pro for an energy audit to get a list of energy-saving recommendations.

Finally, check your insulation. It can settle in over time and become less effective. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that you can save an average of 15% on heating and cooling costs (or 11% of total energy costs) by sealing leaks and making sure attics, crawl spaces, and basements have a nice layer of insulation.
