"Everything was done that was agreed on. The work done is outstanding. If there was a question, they asked me. All debris was cleaned up and hauled away. They even tilled the garden to get all the weed roots out, then added new topsoil. I love everything!"

"they were very professional and completed the work in a timely manner. All debris was cleaned up before leaving our house. Since doing repairs to my basement i called them to work on my mother and sister's house. All of us would not hesitate to recommend them to others and use them again if needed."

"Requested quote on putting in concrete porch. Received a quote and they started the work the very next day! The Forman was very detailed, in the work the workers were doing. They did an excellent job! What really impressed me too, a young lady in front of the house had a flat tire, the Forman stopped his work, and asked her if he could assist her. You donâ t see that often now days Would recommend Basement Gurus for sure!!"

"Tom, Kristina and their team were incredible. I bought a 1957 property with bleeding cinder block walls. They helped to educate me on the issues and possible solutions and allowed me to make a decision on the waterproofing route that made most sense to my family's needs without being pushy with sales at all and worked with my budget. Their prices were by far the best in the area. The work was a part of a 203 k loan. They worked with the bank and got all of the necessary documentation filed quickly and efficiently and were approved by FHA because of their impeccable history. The work itself was completed within 2 days (interior perimeter drain on a 1500 sq ft basement), they were reliable, efficient and professional. They cleaned the basement really well before they left too! 1 week later there is no longer a musty, moldy smell coming from the basement and cinder block walls are dry. I've had several contractors in the property since they finished and everyone has commented on what a beautiful job they did. I would definitely recommend them in the future, they were an absolute delight from start to finish."

"John and his crew were professional answered all my questions and explained it fully. They were careful of my ceramic tile that was put down less than a year ago. When taking out the old wall they dealt with rows of glass bottles, door hinges and chisels and let us know that these obstacles took extra time.. While working on the foundation they had to deal with alot of rain. My front yard was a mess from the machinery. When they were finished they leveled out the track marks, the only thing I need to do is add grass seed"

"This is the second time we have hired Groundworks (formerly Bakers Waterproofing) to perform work at our house. The first project was in 2017 when we had the waterproofing system installed. We called Groundworks a few weeks ago to get an estimate on lifting our front sidewalk and stairs that have sunk a lot over the past year. The steps had sunk to the point that the railings were not connected to the house, making it very unsafe for anyone coming into the front of our home. Aaron Lenker & Corbin Gillichbover were very professional and knowledgeable when they arrived to assess our sidewalk and steps to lift them. They left our sidewalk and the surrounding area better than when they arrived. Our steps and sidewalk are now level, and the railings are securely attached to the house again. We are thrilled! I would highly recommend Groundworks if you need a basement waterproofing system or any concrete lifted."

"This was a very involved plaster repair and remediation job, in a very old house. Grady is the only person (or company) who was willing to take on the job and drive all the way from Pennsylvania to our home in Northern Virginia. There are very few people who do this kind of work anymore (we really searched) and he is an expert in his field. We needed to work around his schedule, because he is in demand in the tri-state area, so it took awhile to schedule the work to begin... but it was worth it."

"Seamless experience from start to finish. Todd was super knowledgeable and through on the consult/ sales end. The install team made quick work of the project. Their work was top notch and my basement is now completely dry. I would recommend their services to anyone with basement or foundation issues."

SaniDry Sedona is the world's most efficient, high-performance dehumidifier and filtration system and is a crucial element in basement waterproofing and crawl space repair. As a result of its compact size, it occupies less space in a basement and can easily be tucked away in a crawl space. The unit eliminates damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air, and it costs less to run than other dehumidifiers. It filters mold spores, dust mite droppings, dust and other particles, and it keeps hu

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, limewash on brick can accumulate dust over time. Its porous nature can attract dust particles, especially in environments with high levels of dust or dirt. Additionally, if the limewash surface is left unsealed, it may be more prone to collecting dust. Additionally, incorrectly applied limewash will generate dust. Causes include applying it too thickly instead of thin layers and not allowing enough drying time between layers. Regular maintenance, such as gentle cleaning or dusting, can help mitigate dusty issues.

Yes, as long as the cut is clean and the brick remains structurally sound, you can reuse it. Reusing brick is especially common for landscaping, edging, and small masonry repairs. Just make sure to file down any sharp edges before handling or installing it.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

Handbuilt masonry fireplaces are likely what comes to mind when we think about curling up by the fire at the end of the day. But bricks in the firebox and chimney tend to be heavy, which is not ideal for homes with weak or damaged foundations.

Prefabricated fireboxes come with a full flue and chimney system, significantly reducing the price and installation time. However, if you need to replace the panels down the line, you are locked into the same model or something very similar.

Some older brick material is extremely hard, making it tough to create a hole. Rather than using a typical wood drill bit, always use a masonry drill bit when drilling into brick. For extremely hard brick, using a power drill with a hammer function may give you better results. The drill bit will heat up as it goes into the extremely hard brick, so you may need to stop after a few minutes and allow the bit to cool before starting to drill again.
