"I called DiFatta Masonry contractors and Sal (the owner) came out the very next day. He was very thorough and explained that the stucco failure was caused by improper drainage around the basement steps. He explained exactly how it would be fixed and what needed to done to correct the drainage problem. His crew showed on time on the scheduled date, did an excellent job and were very polite and professional. I was very pleased with the price, attention to detail and quality of workmanship.   • Uneven application

  • Uneven texture across the exterior

  • Mixing the stucco improperly, leaving a weak structure

  • Failing to texture properly in between coats, leading to cracking and chipping

Properly maintained stucco can enhance insulation, reducing energy loss.

To maintain stucco, inspect it annually for cracks and clean the surface with a mild detergent. Seal any cracks promptly to prevent water infiltration, and reseal or repaint as needed to preserve its appearance.

You can use small bits that are up to 3/8 inch in diameter, or larger bits that are 1/2 inch or more in diameter. Make sure the bits you use are coated with carbide or diamond; this information is usually visible on the package. You can also use hole saw bits to drill into stucco.
