"Tom was wonderful and extremely thorough! He explained everything as he went along and I left feeling like I really knew the ins and outs of the property. He was extremely personable and very professional. He called to schedule and follow up prior to the date of the inspection. I felt confident in him during the entire process. I would recommend him to anyone."

"Bob from SIS is a straight shooter, provides options, clear explanations and associated costs on the necessary steps to remediate the problem. Good communication, timely and professional. Pleasantly surprised with my experience with SIS and the contractor they recommended to do the work. Easy 5-star rating, not too common these days."

"Hired Terry for a home inspection. I'm buying a home that i know needs a little tlc. I wanted the peace of mind that I'm not getting into something over my head. Terry was very professional. He arrived on time and did a thorough inspection. He found some things I hadn't seen on my 2 previous walk-thrus. He had the full report completed within 2 days. It's a very detailed report. All in all I would definitely recommend Roof 2 Basement to anyone who needs a thorough inspector! I see it as money well spent..now I know exactly what I'm getting into!"

"This is the best choice I could've made! Mr. Hull was very prompt in returning my call, very prompt at coming to assess my home, the price was reasonable when compared to others services and I was worked into the schedule very quickly. There was very low odor to the product, it reminded me of being at an indoor pool. 2 thumbs up!"

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is naturally present everywhere, it is impossible to avoid entirely. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action to reduce radon levels if your home's test results are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.

Your radon mitigation system may be loud because it’s time to replace it. Any sounds are usually from the inline fan that helps create the vacuum and resulting airflow. If you hear a new, loud mechanical or humming noise from your radon fan, it might be time to replace it. Most fans used in radon mitigation systems last up to 10 years, but may need to be replaced sooner.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is present everywhere, complete avoidance is impossible. You can vent radon out of your house sometimes by simply opening a window, but it won’t remove the source, and will likely rise above recommended levels quickly. A professional will be needed to assess your home, and determine the best strategy for radon removal. Active radon sump pumps and soil depressurization systems are often used to forcefully vent the radon from your home.

No, air purifiers are not an effective way to reduce or remove radon. Radon is a radioactive, inert gas that cannot be filtered by standard air purifiers, which are designed to capture particulates like dust and mold. While an air purifier can improve indoor air quality by removing other pollutants, it should not be relied upon for radon. The only effective solution for high radon levels is a dedicated radon mitigation system.
