"Richard Mojica is the best contractor to work with! He was very considerate of our time, offered clear and concise estimates of the window screens and door we needed replaced, and was very transparent throughout the entire process. We highly recommend him to our friends and family! Rick was such a delight to work with!"

"They came out quickly and he did a nice job repairing the windows. The price certainly seemed fair to me although I didn't price with anybody else because it was kind of an emergency situation. The fellow who came to give me an estimate told me it would take weeks for them to do it. I had to clean up my house for sale on Thursday and I needed this done. When I called the company and said that I'm in an emergency, they said they can get here the next day. They came within a day. I went upstairs and there was a gap in one of my windows so I went to weather strip it and I noticed one of the paint seemed to be loose in an area. I called immediately and the guy came right back and explained to me that it takes a while for the putty to set and what I was seeing was normal, etc. I felt kind of stupid calling them and he said he should have explained it to me and said he was very sorry. He said they rather I call them now than not call them. I was very impressed with them. I would use them in a millisecond again."

"Flying Locksmiths came out and replaced my exterior locks on 2 doors at my new home. They were prompt, scheduled when convenient for me, and completed the job quickly - in far less time and effort that it would have taken me. Would definitely hire them again if needed."

"James and his crew arrived first thing in the morning and worked all day. They replaced 22 wood double hung windows with new Okna 600 Eco-Pro vinyl windows. The new windows look and work great. There was one minor problem with the horizontal sliding window located in the kitchen; on speaking with the owner Tom, they have ordered the required parts and will return to install them. Overall we are pleased with the quality, workmanship and value of the windows. They make the house look much better and are easier to operate than our old windows. We would use AJ window and Door Solutions again and would recommend them to others. Thanks Barb and Joe H."

"We are extremely impressed with the sales, installation and quality assurance of this company. This product looks great, the guys that installed the windows were professional, knowledgeable and did great work and clean up. The sales guy, Vince did a great job explaining the product and convincing us we would be satisfied. My grandkids were delighted that they can now open the sliding door. Great company, I highly recommend"

"Recently had 16 windows, 2 doors, and whole home vinyl siding installation with new shutters. We are so pleased with every aspect of the experience that Home Genius provided for us. We’ve been in our home for 45 years and we’ve never been so pleased. Driving up to our home is like a brand new experience. Dylan was a tremendous project manager that was on top of things the entire time. Basically in a weeks’ time it’s like we’re living in a new home. Between the insulation, siding, and windows we can already feel an improvement in the temperature of our home. Thank you so much Home Genius! We will be recommending to friends and family!"

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

While the telltale signs can vary for different types of screen doors, it may be time to learn how to install a screen door if you're noticing rotting, warping, or splintering accompanying the sagging. If you’re unsure whether to replace a sagging screen door, consult a local screen door pro for an inspection and final decision.

Window seals don’t last forever, so they’ll inevitably fail for one reason or another. One of the most common reasons is the expansion and contraction of the glass. When the glass gets warm from sunlight, it expands and adds pressure to the seal; at night, as the glass cools, it contracts. This process, day in and day out, can eventually cause the seal to fail. Other common sources of failure include the house settling over time, chemicals that damage the seal when repainting windows, and incorrect window installation.

Solar screens are low-maintenance but benefit from occasional cleaning with mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or pressure washing, as these can damage the mesh. Inspect screens annually for tears or loose frames to maintain performance. In dusty or coastal areas, more frequent cleaning may be necessary to prevent buildup.

The screen material you choose depends on your needs. Here are some differences to consider:

  • Fiberglass is the least expensive but needs replacing more often.

  • Aluminum suits almost any job and doesn’t stretch as easily as fiberglass.

  • Pet-resistant screens are more expensive than fiberglass or aluminum, but they’re also wind and weather-resistant.

  • Metal screens, like stainless steel, are the most expensive material for rescreening your porch or sunroom. However, they last for years and are golf ball-resistant.

The most affordable way to screen in a porch is to add a base track system to an existing wooden frame. The whole process should cost around $2,000 for supplies, depending on the size of your porch. It’s much pricier to build a screened-in porch or sunroom from scratch—and you’ll probably need to hire a contractor for a project like that.
