"They are the best I had some odd jobs from yard work to painting trim to organization and they came out and did all the odd jobs I was neglecting and putting off. They were so fair and kind to me as well. And for a seed bonus I also have bigger projects now like a kitchen back splash and new door I need installed and they told me they can also do certain things not listed on the site so they wear many hats. It’s very hard to find a good contractor / handyman that you can call on the fly it takes months for them to get back to me but not these guys they are very reliable . Now I have my go to handyman service that’s local . Try them out if you have work you won’t be disappointed. I’m a happy customer not enough stars ⭐️ on here to rate their service above and beyond !"

"I had a wonderful experience with this plumbing service today. He was able to come out within a day’s notice, which I truly appreciated. Although he wasn’t able to complete all of the jobs I initially requested, he made sure to prioritize the bathroom toilet that my senior mother uses so we wouldn’t be left in a bind. That level of consideration meant a great deal to me. He was extremely honest and transparent. He showed me exactly what the issue was — a simple tube had come loose — and even demonstrated how I could fix it myself if it ever happened again. Because it was such a minor repair, he did not charge me, which speaks volumes about his integrity. He was also very personable and professional throughout the visit. I will absolutely be using him and his team again for my pending projects. In fact, several of my senior neighbors have already asked for his information because they are interested in having work done as well. Highly recommend!"

"Simpson's Painting and Repairs painted the exterior of my two story house. They didn't leave until the job was done to their high standards even if it meant coming back to finish some touch up paint. They also built a small balcony on the back of my house and when there wasn't any railing that would look good they built it themselves. On top of all of this their customer service is some of the best I have ever dealt with. I am so thankful I chose Simpson's Painting and Repairs for my balcony to be built and house painted. Fantastic service with reasonable pricing!"

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

The cost to hire a handyman can vary, with most charging on a per-hour or per-project basis. On average, expect to pay between $50 and $150 per hour, with a typical rate around $90 per hour. For project-based work, the average cost is about $400, though the total can range from as low as $180 to $1,500 or more. Some handypeople may also require a minimum flat rate, such as payment for two hours of work.

Several factors influence the final cost, including:

  • The type, size, difficulty, and complexity of the job

  • The amount of time the work takes

  • The handyman's experience level

  • Your geographic location

  • The cost of materials and any necessary permits

  • Accessibility of the work area and potential travel costs

Additionally, you may encounter higher rates or extra fees for emergency services or work scheduled during holidays.

While a handyperson will do the odd small job for your home, a maintenance person is responsible for conducting regular inspections and repairs. Maintenance people may come in to do small fixes and diagnose any issues you might be facing, but may not have all the same technical abilities as a handyperson.

Prioritize tasks and arrange a consultation to discuss scope and timeline with the handyman.

Handypeople usually don’t hold trade licenses, so they typically aren’t qualified to tackle projects involving installing or making alterations to plumbing or electrical lines. Below are some jobs that a handyperson usually won’t be able to complete:

  • Installing plumbing for a new kitchen or bathroom

  • Replacing plumbing pipes

  • Installing or repairing septic systems

  • Running new electrical wiring

  • Installing a subpanel

Yes, many repair services include blade sharpening as part of the maintenance package.
