"Synergy was one of four bidders for our new comp roof, which replaced our 28-year-old cedar shakes. Initial architectural-style roof-only pricing among all four bidders was close, but Synergy was able to not only sheet and install the roof, but also replace the gutters, replace two skylights and install a new Solartube at a much more aggressive price and start work within days of the bid. The team worked hard to have it all finished within three long days plus half of day four. Each evening Nathan was onsite supervising a very thorough cleanup. All last minute details were resolved quickly and we are very pleased with the roof, Sabel, Nathan and the Synergy team. (Tip: If you are replacing cedar shakes, put down tarps or plastic in your attic to catch debris.)"

"A great job was done by Chris and Shalamar. The project was to replace old fence and add new sections. They also removed a shed that was in the way and also cut down some bushes I wanted removed. I am so happy with the work that they did. When they completed the job they hauled away all the debris. It looks great. I will definitely hire them again."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

For the most part, goats are friendly and won’t charge at you, but there are exceptions to this rule, as there are with any animal handling practices. Typically, goats don’t attack unless they feel threatened. Avoid cornering or rough handling goats to avoid getting head-butted, bitten, or kicked, and always supervise goats when they’re near children or pets.

The standard height for a split rail fence is three or four feet. This height requires two to three horizontal rails, making it ideal for homeowners wanting a budget-friendly split rail fence. If you’re hoping to contain agile livestock or animals like dogs, geese, or goats, you may prefer to install a six-foot tall fence with four or five rails or a four-foot-tall fence with three horizontal rails. This will help prevent animals from climbing, crawling, or jumping through the rails.

In terms of materials, chicken wire mesh will be the most inexpensive option to use when building your fence. The downside is that it’s not the most attractive garden fence option. In a similar vein, you could choose a DIY fence made out of repurposed items, like car tires, or wooden pallets, either of which would be free to collect.

Green branches are more flexible and easier to work with, but they'll shrink as they dry, which can loosen your fence weave over time—so you'll need to weave them extra tight to account for shrinkage. Some species, particularly willow, may also try to sprout when used green. For these reasons, it’s typically easiest to use branches that have dried for a week or two.

How long it takes to install a fence depends on the size of the fence; the longer the fence, the longer the install will take. That said, you can typically install a bamboo fence over a weekend for a reasonably sized yard. A team of fencing contractors can likely get your bamboo fence assembled in half a day to a day.
