"I've used them for several years to maintain a midsized suburban lawn. The current fee for this is $165 monthly. The crews show up on time, are courteous, and do a good job, but there are improvements the company could make. Even though the fee is billed monthly, in December and part of January there is no service. The lawn is dormant, but if I'm paying monthly, I expect some kind of yard maintenance that could be done during the winter in return. I've also had spotty service fixing lawn irrigation issues, and the staff is not well trained about limiting damage or cleanup issues to the home related to their work. Leaf blower use damages the siding and removes topsoil, and edge trimming often sprays mud up onto the walls, which must be cleaned up frequently. I think they rely too much on leaf blowers instead of using rakes in areas where the blowers create problems. The company has never asked for my feedback about their service and how it could be improved."

"Fabulous. After strugging with our yards we finally decided to hire someone to make them look better. Our neighbors hired Artistic Landscapes about 3 years ago. Their yard looks great. Robert came over, listened to me and asked lots of questions. I explained to him that we wanted a low maintenance yard with pops of color. I would love a flowering tree or a “weeping” tree. But in the end we wanted it to look good and needed expert advice on what looks like what we describe, and is not hard to maintain. The job took 3+ weeks. Robert assigned Luis and his crew to do the work. They were great. Fun guys to work with. Answered all my stupid questions and even moved some fairly heavy stuff around the yard for me. They removed an old lawn, flattened the yard, then installed new topsoil, a lawn and walk way. The final plants went in this week. I am beyond delighted. Not only did I get a flowering tree, a lovely Magnolia, but a weeping tree as well. Lots of color and pop. I even ended up with a path way from the front to the back yard, something that will make life easier and we never thought of. If you are looking for a someone who listens to you, incorporates your ideas into his vision Robert is your guy. You won’t be sorry, we aren’t."

"Great. Juan and his team have been caring for my yard for several years. He is conscientious and always strives to do things the way I like them done. That includes weeding, removing leaves and debris, pruning, cutting back plants, mowing and edging. He does extra things when I ask, such as removing a spreading plant, usually without additional charge. Every year my HOA gives me a compliment/thanks for the way my yard looks. And it's kind of a complicated yard to manage. I also trust Juan to do other jobs for me, such as cleaning gutters, washing decks, and pressure washing the driveway. He's a nice guy."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

No. Standard homeowners insurance does not cover any kind of lead remediation, focusing instead on sudden, unpreventable events like fires and theft. Many insurance companies will specifically exclude lead paint removal, since it tends to be an expensive and unavoidable project. The exception is if the lead surface is damaged during a covered event (like a flood) and homeowners insurance pays its replacement.

No, you can’t place hazardous waste in a dumpster unless you specifically ordered a dumpster for hazardous waste removal. If the dumpster company finds hazardous waste that it didn’t approve for dumping, the company will return the waste to you, and you’ll likely face a fine for illegal dumping.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

Lead removal is crucial in older homes to eliminate risks of lead poisoning, which can severely affect health, particularly in children, by impacting development and cognitive functions.

By using PPE, sealing work areas, and following containment procedures.
