"We love outside holiday lights, but we are seniors and donâ t do ladders anymore. Matt provided an estimate which included putting up, taking down, and storing until next year. It also included the lighting materials. Ours were too old. The up/down was done per the schedule provided. The whole process was slick, very professional. What a relief to know that it will be taken care of!"

Small jobs welcome

I’m a local handyman with a small crew who helps people keep their homes and yards looking solid and functional. I take care of everyday home repairs, drywall, paint, fixtures, doors, shelves, and general fixes—as well as outdoor work like lawn care, decks, and fencing.\n\nI’m dependable, easy to work with, and I care about doing things the right way. I treat every home and property like it’s my own and aim to leave clients feeling relieved, not stressed. If you’ve got a list of things inside or outside that “just need to get done,” I’m your guy.

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

The average cost to have a professional install Christmas lights on a roof is about $420, with most homeowners spending between $220 and $650. Some companies may charge between $1.25 and $3 per square foot, excluding the cost of the lights. For extensive or complex jobs, the cost can exceed $1,000. While doing it yourself can save money, it is only recommended if you are comfortable working at heights.

You should always hang the lights before the ornaments because hanging lights on top of ornaments can cause some to fall off. If a light sits directly on top of an ornament, it can cause it to heat up and possibly change its color or cause it to crack.

Typically, the most expensive type of Christmas tree is either the Douglas fir or the fraser fir. That being said, lots of different factors can affect what you’ll pay for a Christmas tree including supply and demand, size of the tree, and more. Your best bet is to speak with a pro at your local Christmas tree farm to find the best tree for you.

No one has figured out a perfect solution to this problem. Tying icicle lights down or adding weights to them can help, but it’s a very time-consuming process and far from foolproof. If your winters are too windy, we suggest simply switching away from icicle lights to straight runs of non-dangling lights along the edge of your roof.

Between seasons, inspect cords for damage, replace burnt-out bulbs, and clean lighting fixtures to prevent dirt buildup. Proper storage in cool, dry conditions will extend the lights' lifespan and minimize repairs or replacements when redeployed.
