"Walter and his assistant, Liz, were absolutely wonderful!! They showed up early, but called ahead, to find out if that was ok with my schedule, and gave me an exact time of arrival. They were courteous , professional, hard-working and paid attention to detail. They did a great job on all the outside windows of my 2 story house. Walter even took the time to bring in his super-tall ladder, and clean the inside of my decorative window, above my front door, clean my chandelier, that hangs from a 12 foot ceiling, AND change all the light bulbs!! He even went above and beyond, and used a super-long duster, to get all the cobwebs around that 12 ft ceiling!! Walter and Liz make a great team - funny, hardworking , professional, and they do excellent work! The value for the money is excellent, and I would highly recommend this company, and will definitely use them again!!"

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

There aren’t many alternative methods to hanging Christmas lights on fascia without using clips. But if you don’t have fascia clips to hang your Christmas lights, you can use clothespins in a pinch. To do this, hold the strand of lights in place and clip it in place with the clothespin. Using nails or staples is never a good idea, as they can damage your fascia.

Ensure you have a safe environment for them to work on, and there aren’t items such as logs, build-up of yard materials, missing or damaged shingles, and weak areas on the roof. Communicate any known electrical issues with contractors at the beginning of the project, and consider hiring an electrician to fix those. Finally, if you are attempting the project yourself, do so when there isn’t any rain, and you can safely get your footing on the roof using proper equipment, such as an extension ladder. Don’t attempt this alone, and have a helper nearby to assist.

Blinker lights come with a standard box of Christmas lights, so you don’t need to pay extra for them unless you’ve misplaced the ones from the original box. You can buy replacement Christmas blinker lights for about $8 per box. If you want to plan for future holidays, you can buy a value box of 24 replacement blinker bulbs for about $12. Also called flasher lights, the replacement bulbs often come in packages of six bulbs.

An affordable Christmas light bulb testing and replacement tool can make the job easier. But you can most likely make all necessary repairs yourself using common toolbox items if you’d rather avoid purchasing another gadget.

Typically, the most expensive type of Christmas tree is either the Douglas fir or the fraser fir. That being said, lots of different factors can affect what you’ll pay for a Christmas tree including supply and demand, size of the tree, and more. Your best bet is to speak with a pro at your local Christmas tree farm to find the best tree for you.
