"Our CPVC house piping had a lot of water hammer. After turning on the washing machine, I walked out for a moment, and then when I came back in water was dripping from the ceiling exhaust fan onto the washing machine. We have a two story house and they ran the hot water plumbing from the water heater in the garage through the laundry room ceiling. I removed the exhaust fan and could see water dripping from a tee way back beyond reach. The water hammer from the washer likely caused the fitting to start leaking. I turned the house water supply off and sent a message to Simpson plumbing through Angie's list. A lady from Simpson plumbing contacted me right away the next morning. She was courteous, but was having a hard time understanding what the problem was. Maybe I was giving too much information or something, but when the plumbers arrived later that afternoon they didn't understand what was going on. I ran through what happened again and showed them the wet spot on the ceiling. They had to cut an opening in the ceiling and we turned the water on and confirmed the leak. We moved my washing machine out of their way and they cut out the CPVC tee and replaced it with PEX. The piping was brittle so it took him a couple of attempts to get a straight cut which is why I called them to mess with it. After installing the PEX tee, we were leak free and at my request they provided a reference for the drywall repair. He also advised getting some water hammer arrestors installed on the supply lines to the washing machine to stop the water hammer, which I have since done."

"In preparation for a super hot summer, I decided it would be a good move to get my heat pump serviced early. Tasha made the entire process SO easy! She was very pleasant to work with and took the time to answer all of my questions about the service visit. Corey was great too when he came out. He was very professional and super informative about how to care for the unit so it lasts many years to come. Overall this was a great experience and I feel more confidant as a new homeowner!"

"I called to explain what I wanted.  I was given a fair estimate on the project's feasibility, based on my home's electrical situation.  I was given a ballpark quote on time and price.  The electrician came and assessed the situation, came up with a solution. I approved it and he made it happen -- all very efficiently and effectively.  I wouldn't call anyone else in the future."

"They did a good job. They worked hard for three hours in the rain, digging two feet into the ground to reach the drain and repair everything. It ended up being the sprinkler system connection on the home owner's side of the main that was leaking."

"Owner and son arrived a little late to perform the work quoted.  The owner was experienced and did a quality job.  The plumbing job will last many years.  He also went the extra step to make sure the cabinet was level so that faucet and basin would work efficiently.  He also did some work in the kitchen to make sure all connections were good and improved the hose line to the dishwasher and ice maker. He answered my questions and explained in detail the work he had completed.  I would definitely hire him again, but would ask that he protect my floors and leave the work area neater.  His prices were very good for the excellent work he performed.

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

Sump pumps remove excess water from the lowest point of your home, which prevents flooding. When a sump pit fills with water, a sump pump pushes that water outside of the basin and into an exterior discharge pipe. From there, the water flows away from your home, so it doesn’t damage your foundation.

A sump pump battery backup can typically run for 6 to 24 hours. The factors that affect its runtime include the battery capacity and pump usage.

When purchasing your backup system, take these factors into consideration to determine which system is best for your home. If you live in an area with frequent and long-lasting power outages, consider a longer-lasting backup battery.

Common problems include motor failure, clogged discharge lines, and float switch malfunctions. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.
