"Scott Paider of Western Edge Tree Service gave me a fair bid to cut down a very large tree in my yard that was rotting from the inside. He and his team cut down the large tree in one day and cleaned the site such that it appeared not to have ever existed. The job was done efficiently on the date promised for the cost estimated in the bid. I was very impressed and happy that I had contacted Scott Paider."

"This job was not easy as the tree to be removed growing very closely among homes & outbuildings. Mike & his crew did a superb job of maneuvering the gigantic lift in among other trees & obstacles in my small front yard. They worked very efficiently, professionally & quickly causing no damage to my home, yard or my neighbors yards & homes. They cleaned up my yard, hauled off debris plus sawed up large limbs & the large trunk into stove size for a low income recipient. They stayed on the time schedule & the cost estimate. I am beyond pleased!"

"Wade came out and removed a 75 ft douglas fir tree close to our front door. Did an absolutely great job. Would highly recommend him. Did everything you are supposed to for a customer and did it for a very fair price. friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, skilled and hard working. Should be called Paul Bunyan. He's got the skills."

"I am extremely happy with the service I received from Global Green Tree Service. The general manager, Allen Wilson, came out and gave me a free estimate on trimming two trees that hadn’t been trimmed in 12 years since my father passed. The price was very reasonable for what I wanted done. He came back the next morning and did a fantastic job. I am very pleased. He was very professional and courteous, showing his expertise in tree trimming and showing respect for what I told him about my dad’s work by doing it exactly the way my dad had always done it, especially since I had no knowledge of what needed to be done. I will be hiring him again once I’m ready for the landscaping of my front yard. My brother and neighbor commented on how well it was done."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

According to scientists at Penn State University, spotted lanternflies do not typically kill the trees and plants they feed on, but they can cause branches and segments to die off. However, they have been found to kill cultivated grapes, which can have devastating consequences for vineyard owners and regions that heavily rely on vineyards to create jobs and generate revenue. They have also killed the Ailanthu altissima, known as the tree of heaven, though this is classified as a noxious and invasive weed tree.

In most cases, you should not use a pruning seal on trees after trimming. Applying a sealant can interfere with the tree's natural healing process, and it does not guarantee protection from pathogens. Instead of sealing the cut, the best practice is to support the tree's natural recovery by providing it with plenty of water and a dormant-style fertilizer. However, there are exceptions. Pruning seals may be recommended for very vulnerable species, like elm trees, in areas where dangerous diseases such as Dutch elm disease are prevalent. In these specific situations, the protection offered by a sealant can outweigh its downsides. For advice tailored to your situation, especially after cutting large branches, it is best to consult a local tree trimming professional.

In most cases, your neighbor is responsible for roots from their tree that cause damage to your property. If your pavement, the foundation of your home, or a fence is damaged by roots from a neighbor’s tree, you likely will have legal recourse for financial relief. While it’s better to notify your neighbor of any problems you notice as soon as they arise to avoid costly damage, there are some instances where filing a civil suit is your only recourse. Your homeowner’s insurance company might wish to do so on your behalf if you file a claim.

Trees that flower in the spring—like dogwood, cherry, magnolia, and pear—should not be pruned during the winter. These spring-flowering plants grow buds on old growth, so you’ll actually remove what would’ve been gorgeous flowering foliage. Instead, wait to prune until right after they bloom, when the flowers fade.

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree.

Most pros will advise against either of these methods, which is why hiring a pro is often the best choice when it comes to tree trimming.
