"just bought a new home- called David out for an inspection & found out the chimney was leaking badly and over time had actually destroyed it's foundation. rebuilt from the ground up and happy it's out of the way now. looks awesome as well as water tight. will use again for annual maintenance as recommended by them."

"Family Chimney Repair did an amazing job on rebuilding our firebox! We had another company drop the ball on this project and FCR was over within a few days of me inquiring about them fixing it. They did a quality work, we’re great communicators, and finished way faster than I anticipated! I would highly recommend using them. Before and after photos (previous hired company’s work vs FCR)"

"Initial repair worked for a while then failed. When I contacted Murphy's and told them about it, they sent out a technician who evaluated the problem on the first visit, then returned with proper parts and did the replacement. Tech was competent, courteous, and worked quick. Highly recommend for honesty."

"It went well. Gave me a report of the chimney's structure and condition. He pointed out a few things that we needed to keep an eye out for.  It had been a while since I lit a fireplace fire, he gave me a quick tutorial and some tips.

"Highly recommend Soot Slayer. I was very impressed with the responsiveness of Brandon and Daniel. In addition to promptly contacting me after an Angie’s List inquiry, they followed up within 48 hours to see if I had any additional questions. My husband and I were also impressed with the fairness of their quotes and the quality of their work. We initially hired them for a chimney cleaning but also ended up hiring them to repair/restore interior and exterior issues with our chimney. I would recommend the Soot Slayer team to anyone needing their quality services!!"

"Benchmark professionalism! Called and spoke to Phil. Very polite. Asked pertinent questions and suggested I send him a photo of my fireplace so he could guarantee he brought out the right equipment and parts. He arrived on time and fixed the problem in minutes. Explained what was wrong and what he was going to do. He cleaned everything and gave me a few insightful tips that I will pass onto the new owner."

"The company I bought the stove from recommended Glenn Collins of Burning Bush Chimney service. When I called him he called right back and we set up a time for him to give me a bid. I got three bids on this work, his was the lowest, and he and his son were pleasant and professional workers...they got the work done and left everything clean, and to Fire code."

"This is a long overdue review, as I had this work done in July through August. I've hired Charles twice before, once to fix a shower floor in my master bathroom (installed by someone else, he made it right), and then a full gut and remodel of a guest bathroom which I still love. I hired Charles to fully build and finish the 3rd bathroom in my basement. Charles came to the house and looked at the space. We had already looked at it previously to get an idea going of what I wanted. He provided his suggestions too, which always are really good ideas. We then went forward with the quote, then met to pick out colors of materials and styles of materials. Again, his inputs were invaluable to really come up with a great layout and selection of materials. We set up the schedule, and Charles worked around my schedule since I would need to keep my dog from going downstairs when I was home. I had some trips out of town, and I gave Charles a key to the house, since I've had him come by when I wasn't home, and I fully trust him to take care of my property. He always cleaned up after each day of work, and the end result is stunning. My friends I have shown the space are blown away by the craftsmanship and attention to detail. The things I had done (pictures are attached below): - Full walk-in shower - Heated tile floors - Fully vanity with beautiful sink - LED can lights, sconsas around the vanity mirror - Built-in cabinets, floor to ceiling - Built-in shelves Charles will not be the cheapest quote you'll find, but you pay for perfection and incredible work. He also stands behind his work, I only had one issue in the previous bathroom remodel (shower controls had a failed grommet) and he came out immediately to diagnose and fix it, no cost to me. He's proud of his work, and it shows. I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone. I am also planning to hire Charles to remodel my kitchen when the time and funds become available."

Chimney Repair questions, answered by experts

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

There are a few reasons that a drawer won't come out. Most of the time, there's an obstruction of some sort preventing the drawer from acting normally. The key to figuring out the problem is investigation and patience.

If possible, open the drawer as far as it will go and shine a flashlight inside to see if something in the drawer is hitting the cabinet frame. Or, remove a drawer above or below the offending one and use the flashlight to investigate the drawer slides. Discovering the cause will likely provide the necessary information to develop a solution.

Careful measurement is crucial—measure multiple times and account for hardware thickness, seasonal wood movement, and clearance requirements. Test-fit components before final assembly, and consider building one drawer as a prototype before cutting materials for multiple units.

Learning how to fix water-damaged or swollen wood is possible, but it won’t always work if there is significant warping or structural damage that was caused by the water. Cosmetic issues such as nicks, bubbling and peeling can often be fixed by using an iron, sanding, or using wood filler.

It is generally worth repairing leather furniture rather than replacing it, as it is typically more affordable and the material tends to retain its value. A typical repair averages around $250, which is significantly less than the thousands of dollars a replacement could cost. Even a full reupholstering, which can cost up to $4,000, may still be more economical than buying new. With proper care, repaired leather furniture can last for many years, making the investment worthwhile. However, if the underlying structure or frame of the furniture is damaged or malfunctioning, replacement might be a better option. The quality of the leather and the furniture piece are also important factors. For a definitive answer, it is best to consult a leather repair professional to assess your specific situation.
