"Did a great job! Attention to detail, easy to work with, always responded right away when I contacted him. Val would make sure all the materials were undamaged when received. A window and garage door were damaged during delivery and he rejected them instead of making do. Extremely happy with our home."

"Jeremy was on time and told us what he felt was the best options for replacing the light switches. Had them on his truck. We also had a fan we wanted installed. Told us the 42 inch was too small for the area we wanted and suggested a 52 inch. At this time holding off but will definitely hire BCElectric Inc Jeremy when we make that purchase. We also have a dishwasher on back order that he will install for us when the time comes. While Jeremy was here also asked some other questions for advice on some outside lighting we may have done later on. Very reasonable on prices. Jeremy was very professional with his work and responses. He listened before giving responses and made sure we understood our options. I have and will continue to refer Jeremy at BCElectric"

"Home projects, no matter the type, will have hiccups. What makes a company special is how they handle those hiccups. John and Matthew handle every issue with integrity and sincerity and willingly coached me through the questions I had throughout my projects, even providing welcomed design ideas. Once the project was complete I brought them back to do a few more things and they made the time for me. I can easily recommend these fine gentleman."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

The only real drawback to green building is that it’s more expensive up front, with per-square-foot prices sitting 33% higher than what you’d pay to build a traditional home. The higher cost is due to more expensive building materials and more labor to ensure every aspect of the home is as efficient as possible. However, green buildings often save money in the long run, so this is just a temporary downside.

You likely need to hire an architect for your new house design and build, unless you have the design skills and experience with building regulations and standards needed to get your plans approved. If you are able to meet the design requirements, you can hire a draftsperson to create the blueprints for the builders to follow.

No, it’s not legal for unlicensed individuals to conduct structural calculations for buildings or building repairs. Not only do licensing requirements prevent DIYers from tackling this project, but mistakes can also be extremely dangerous and put your property and anyone inside or near it at risk of severe injury or even death. You should always hire a licensed and certified local structural engineer to make structural calculations.

Yes, modular homes offer a wide range of customization options for layout, finishes, and features.

The most common scale for residential blueprints is 1/4 of an inch equals one foot. This scale is the most popular because it’s easier for everyone involved, from professionals to homeowners, to understand the building’s actual dimensions. Also, it allows blueprints to have the necessary details without cluttering the page.
