"This job was not easy as the tree to be removed growing very closely among homes & outbuildings. Mike & his crew did a superb job of maneuvering the gigantic lift in among other trees & obstacles in my small front yard. They worked very efficiently, professionally & quickly causing no damage to my home, yard or my neighbors yards & homes. They cleaned up my yard, hauled off debris plus sawed up large limbs & the large trunk into stove size for a low income recipient. They stayed on the time schedule & the cost estimate. I am beyond pleased!"

"Juan, Lightning Tree Service LLC really did a beautiful job. As busy person, I have to rely on the word and integrity of others in a lot of different scenarios. This scenario was multiple three and shrubs on the fence between me and my neighbor needed to remove badly. And I was given Jyan’s name by a good friendof mine. He was immediately responsive, asked for photos, he went the next morning to preview the situation and quote the job, and I hiered them immediately. As promised 8:00 am on a Friday crew shows up on time did an amazing job, safe and super tidy...leaving the place spotless! You'd never know a tree ever fell. Just grateful! Hoping to rely on him for years to come. Thank you, Juan!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Not every arborist climbs trees, but most will do so if that’s the best method for assessing or treating a tree. Arborists have a variety of tree climbing gear and safety equipment to choose from when climbing trees. Consult your local arborist about their tree-climbing plan if your service requires that type of task.

Leaving a dead tree can expose your other trees to potential diseases, pests, and fungi, and it can also be a hazard. If your tree is dead, then you should hire a tree maintenance service to remove it. Cutting down trees is extremely dangerous, and a professional can ensure no one gets hurt and there is no damage to your property. Tree removal costs between $200 and $2,000 and will prevent future issues and keep you and your property safe.

A grafted tree is a tree grown by combining two trees. It takes expertise. Branches from grafted trees don’t grow strong roots. Save yourself the time and frustration by having an arborist help you with this advanced project.

You can often tell if a tree is grafted because it will have a noticeable line. Above the line, the bark will look different than it does below the line. It’s most common with fruit trees.

We don’t recommend DIY tree trimming for a few different reasons. First, the tools required to trim a tree can be costly, up to $1,100 or more, for the ladders and specialized saws needed.

Safety is another concern, especially when working with more mature trees. As a guideline, you should only DIY tree trimming when branches are less than two inches in diameter. Any more, and the safety risk becomes too high, which could lead to catastrophe. For this job, it’s safest to let a tree-trimming professional assess the work needed.

Coverage varies quite a bit by policy, but most homeowners' insurance policies will cover $500 to $1,000 of the cost of removing a tree. Additionally, if your tree causes damage to your property, like your house, many policies will cover some or all of the costs to repair the damage, depending on why the tree fell.
