"Luke went far beyond what I asked. He helped me so much with all of the info I needed to build a home on my lot in Bend. He was kind, knowledgeable, quick to respond, and totally helpful. I went with Luke after speaking with several other people. It felt more like a general contractor when I was inquiring about septic installation. He told me about water well, permits, land clearing, foundation...I would definitely go with Luke again! I am a single woman, and it is really important that I feel someone is not taking advantage of me being new to all of this. Luke made me feel like someone I could trust! Cindy Brine"

"I just pay $75 you never know who's going to come out. They do everything electrical. Just about everything is covered except the septic tank. I had an air conditioner replaced. It went great, all I had to do was pay for the freon. He didn't charge e more than what was needed."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Although air in your water lines won’t affect the overall quality of your water, it will lead to problems with your well water system if not addressed. Over time, too much air in your water lines can create blockages in your pipes, cause insufficient water flow to your taps and appliances, loosen pipes, and potentially damage important components of your well including your well pump and pressure tank.

How to size a well pressure tank is determined by three factors: flow rate, or how many gallons per minute your well pump produces; minimum runtime; and pressure switch setting. Most pressure tanks have a pressure switch operating at 20/40, 30/50, and 40/60—the first number is the pressure needed for the pump to turn on, and the second number is the pressure needed for the pump to switch off. Most homeowners relying on well water require a water pressure tank ranging from 20 to 80 gallons.

The best way to keep a septic tank clean is to hire a local septic tank cleaner to inspect and pump the septic tank every three to five years. Be sure to only flush human waste and toilet paper down the toilet, and don’t pour grease, oil, fats, coffee grounds, or food scraps into your drains.

There are a variety of different types of septic systems that can work in your home—such as conventional anaerobic systems, chamber systems, drip distribution systems and mound septic systems. All of them work using natural processes to break down solid waste and effectively treat wastewater without needing to be connected to a city sewer system. Which type of septic system you need will depend on characteristics of your property like how high the bedrock is or groundwater table is. Different types of systems come at different costs to install.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.
