Customers say: Quick response

"Brent Westfall is 4th generation painter. . . painting is in his DNA. He's quick to reply to your inquiry; he shows up with all materials; he thouroughly preps all areas; he very carefully protects new carpet; he discussed my project with me in detail and surpassed all expectations. I would definitely hire him again."

"We hired Ryan to paint our master bedroom. He guided us with choosing the right paint finish and was able to fit us into his schedule. Ryan painted our room while we were gone on vacation and he was sending us pictures and updates everyday. He did a phenomenal job and even went up and beyond fixed a little hole in our door from the door stopper. Looks like the hole was never there. So do yourself a favor and hire Big Island Painting. They are wonderful and trustworthy and sooooo worth the price. Thank you Ryan!!!"

"This is my second review for Billionfold Paint and Jim Fisher and his crew. My tenants reported that the crew were well organized from start to finish, showed up as scheduled, worked efficiently, cleaned up daily while protecting the landscaping. We are all very pleased with the quality of the workmanship, carpentry repairs, deck staining and how beautiful the house now looks. I would recommend them and plan to use them for my future projects on the interior. In addition their price was much more reasonable than other contractors."

"Amazingly happy with Jeff’s work. He went over and above what I was expecting. Wood panel closet doors painted and look wonderful. Jeff added a pantry cabinet and folding table in our laundry room. Have hired him again to paint some interior walls. I feel confident that they will be great too!"

"I have hired bend paint and drywall for many projects. They have completed both interior drywall and paint projects as well as deck and shingle stain for me. They are always on time and clean up after the project is done. Their work is high quality. I would highly recommend Yona for all your drywall mud and paint projects."

"Actually probably the best painters we've ever hired, very competent and obviously progessionals. They did a walk thru after they were finished and the few small things we found we wanted done they did with no problem at all. We would certainly call them again for any of our painting needs."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

Routine staining or sealing and periodic inspections to extend life.

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.

Wood stain is typically dry to the touch within 6 to 12 hours, but it is not fully cured at this point. You should wait at least 24 hours before applying a second coat or a protective finish. For surfaces like decks, avoid walking on them for at least 24 to 48 hours, and wait even longer before placing furniture. The full curing process can take from 24 hours to one week, depending on the type of stain. Factors like high humidity and cold temperatures can extend drying and curing times, so it's wise to allow for extra time in these conditions.

A five-gallon bucket of deck stain will cover roughly 875 square feet in a single coat. Actual coverage will vary based on the type of wood you’re staining and the number of coats. If you plan on doing multiple coats, multiply the square footage by the number of coats to calculate how many buckets of stain you’ll need.
