"I had an old Pushmatic electrical panel that needed to be replaced. Charles arrived on time, very professional. He replaced the old electrical panel with a brand new 125 amp service electrical panel. Installation included new grounding rods and labeling all the circuits, and cleaning up. He answered my questions and concerns. Very pleased with his work, and he charged a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend him."

"Murphy Family Electric is an awesome company with very competent technicians and reasonable rates. They make the whole process pretty straightforward. I had used them to get my Tesla charger in 2018 (Cost: $799 including material). I was so impressed with their work that when I had a complex electrical job - installing a new 120v outlet requiring a new wire from the circuit breaker - I did not get any quotes but just booked them. That job was done very professionally as well (Cost: $949). Fast forward to Mar 2025, my tesla charger had problems with over heating and intermittent power loss. I called Murphy Family Electric and they sent a technician the same day who came and adjusted/cleaned the connections and spent 30 mins fixing the problem. And to my surprise the company did not even charge me anything for this. So on top of everything else you can add absolutely fantastic customer service to their list of attributes."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Beaverton, choose materials that handle moisture and changing weather, such as THWN-2 wire for outdoor or damp locations and weatherproof electrical boxes for exterior use. For indoor wiring, NM-B cable is standard. Install GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and garages, and use tamper-resistant outlets for added safety. AFCI breakers and energy-efficient LED lighting help meet local safety and sustainability standards.

Helpful?

Upgrading electrical systems in Beaverton can significantly enhance your home’s value and attract buyers, particularly in established neighborhoods. Improvements like modern electrical panels, whole-home surge protection, and EV charging readiness are highly sought after. Energy-efficient lighting and smart home wiring appeal to buyers focused on safety and sustainability, making electrical upgrades a smart investment for long-term resale potential.

Helpful?

In Beaverton, homeowners often encounter extra costs like permit and inspection fees, especially if re-inspections are needed. Upgrading old electrical panels or grounding systems to meet current code is common in older homes. Projects in crawl spaces or attics may require additional labor, and addressing moisture damage or asbestos in pre-1980 homes can add complexity. Utility connection upgrades may also be necessary for expanded electrical service.

Helpful?

In Beaverton, installing a new outlet or switch typically takes a few hours, while upgrading an electrical panel may require one to two days. Whole-house rewiring for an average-sized home usually spans three to five days. Larger projects, such as new builds, can extend several weeks. Project timelines may be affected by permit processing, inspection schedules, and contractor availability, especially during peak construction periods.

Helpful?

Coordinating electrical work with other home upgrades in Beaverton is a practical way to streamline your project. For example, schedule electrical updates alongside kitchen or bathroom remodels, or when adding insulation while walls are open. This approach reduces the need for multiple permits and inspections, minimizes contractor downtime, and helps avoid delays—especially during Beaverton’s busy building season when scheduling can be challenging.
