What company continues to work during the biggest snow and ice storm to hit Portland in 40 years? Alameda Electric, that's who. Special shout out to Tiana at the home office who responded to my call in record time, and electrician Aaron who braved the storm and icy streets to help all those customers who, like me, suffered damage due to storm-related power surges. Aaron was at my house less than 2 hours after I made the call! He was pleasant, wore a mask, and efficiently dealt with my electrical issues. I've used Alameda Electric in the past, and the have always been reliable and trustworthy. I definitely recommend them to anyone needing trustworthy electrical work done.

Alameda Electric was able to get a worker to my house within a couple of days of my calling them, thanks to a sudden change of their schedule. Paul came out and ran a new, dedicated electrical line from the 2nd floor bathroom to the basement panel. Luckily, I had an unused 20amp breaker available. The new line now powers a point-of-use mini tank water heater installed by my plumber the following day. The unit uses 110 volt service but must be hard-wired. Paul was no-nonsense and got the work done in a couple of hours, despite having to work around a crew in the basement jack-hammering out the concrete floor to remove and replace old corroded sewer lines. So not an easy work environment. Job well done!

The staff here were polite and responsive, and we were able to get an appointment scheduled quickly. The man who came out was at our house for around 4 minutes, found a section of our wiring which wasn't ever replaced from knob and tube, and found an issue that fixed the lights. However, the problem with the lights came back a few days later; they sent someone out who was at the house for about 5 minutes, found another small problem and left. When the lights went out AGAIN a few days later, someone came out a third time and found another problem that apparently they hadn't caught the first two times. We asked him to confirm that he had actually checked to make sure there weren't any further issues and he said that with knob and tube "this will just happen sometimes." Things were fine for several months, but the problem is back- we've tried to contact them to get someone out again with no response. The payment for the first visit felt very expensive- it was $250 for just a few minutes. However, they did come out the next two times for free then.

It went great! They came out same day (I'm sure this isn't typical but it was awesome), were fast and very professional. Most other companies couldn't come out for 2-3 weeks.

These guys are wonderful!  I needed a total redo on my unattached garage.  The electrical was crap, with wiring that was strewn all over and only one outlet even worked.  Of course after getting my first bid from another company in my quest to get everything up to code with a subpanel installed ($2760) -  I soon found myself suffering from sticker shock and wondering if I should wait until next tax return season to even tackle this monster.
I decided to try a local electrical company I found on yelp.  After talking with the estimator, Matt and telling him my monetary dilemma,  he suggested I do it in 2 stages.  Stage one was getting the basics of what I wanted.  Enough power in the garage that would suit my projects, and overhead lighting in the garage - since I didn't have any at all.  I was thinking I was going to get the lighting myself and save a few bucks, but they gave me some option that was better and cheaper than anything I could have gotten at Home Depot.   My total cost was $515 parts and labor.  You guys rock!!!
