I am feeling so elated! Now when I walk into my bedroom and hit the switch the light comes on!!  The lights there and in a couple of other places including an outside  light failed unexpectedly!  I was worried about the cost of repairs and who could I trust to do a good and honest job.  I  called around and checked reviews and couldn't really find anyone I felt I could trust. So I asked my good friend of 40 years and he recommended Conduit Electric. I looked them up online and they had great reviews! First call I spoke with a very nice gal named Rosy who tried to troubleshoot over the phone. I thought how honest is that!  Christina the scheduler (also very nice and friendly) called back  and made an appt for us with Shane the Electrician. He showed up at the appointed  hour and set to work. Within an hour he found the faulty wire!  I was so impressed!  He was  smart, professional and courteous and yet very kind and  friendly.  He checked and doublechecked everything . I couldn't believe he finished the entire job in under an hour.  We are all at the mercy of the technician when the electricity goes out . Its so wonderful to know that I can count on  Shane and Conduit Electric if anything ever fails again.  And if it does I wont hesitate to call.  I know how honest they are and what a good job they will do.  I feel so lucky to have found them!! Thanks so much Shane and Conduit Electric!

They explained the process to me when I called them and told me about possible complications that might result in a higher charge.

When I had called to inquire about their rates, I was told it was $120/hr, they worked for two hours but then the technician told me that the charge would be $150/hr. He said the rate was higher because two people came out instead of one (one of which apparently was an apprentice). I was also charged $75 for a permit, which I was never told I would need. This also didn't make any sense to me because they only did some minor repairs on an electrical box and fixed some landscaping lights, not any major remodeling work. I am unhappy that my bill went from an expected $240 to $375. As a Premium member of Angie?s List, I was entitled to a Complaint Resolution process which I took advantage of. A representative of the CRP team of Angie?s List contacted the provider in an attempt to resolve the dispute but the provider refused to take responsibility and to do anything to resolve the issue.
Response from Conduit Electric
"Our customer was informed that our rate is $120 per man hour. We provided a reduced rate for our apprentice which reduced our customers overall cost in two ways. 1) Our journeyman was more efficient and less time was need to resolve the issue. 2) Instead of paying $120 per man hour our customer was paying $75. I am sorry, that our customer is dissatisfied with the cost, we do our best to meet the needs and expectations of our customers."

The work went well and they worked very hard. The only issue I had is that he came with his apprentice who worked with him. How ever when it came time to pay he did not tell me his apprentice had his own rate that was quite high. At that point I had no choice but to pay but it would have been nice to know upfront what my cost were going to be and I felt he was a little disceptive with that. He only quoted me his hourly rate. So be aware and ask. But overall they did good work, were dependable, and honest.

I had a little electrical emergency with wall plug shorting out and melting in the wall!! Chuck, the owner, had come out once before when I had family coming in from came out of town and our bathroom fan broke. He came out the same day and fixed that, and with this wall plug meltdown, he came out at the end of the same day, too! With such great response the first 2 times, we hired Conduit again, and two of his contractors (?) came out and did a bunch of rewiring. They did a great job! Pat and Daniel were quick and courteous and downright fun to have in our little hovel. I will be hiring them again soon for some pesky outlets in the garage!

I had tremendous difficulty even scheduling this work with them, and I should have seen it as a warning sign. I kept being told 'oh yes, we can do the work, we'll call you right back with a time.' And I would never hear back. I had to follow-up with them over and over because I just never heard anything. The office seems very disorganized--conversations like 'oh yeah, I saw something about you written on a piece of paper somewhere around here.'

I finally got them out to do the work--a very simple job. He worked hard while he was inside doing the work, but he kept disappearing outside for huge lengths of time. No explanation. I was charged for 2 hours of work, but there was no way it took that long.

And then there was a mystery $75 charge tacked onto the bill--I had provided all of the parts, there was nothing they had to do but switch out the old baseboard heaters I had. He hesitated for quite a while when I confronted him about the charge, as if he was having trouble making up something on the spot. He said it was a charge for bringing his truck. I asked why I was being charged that when I had provided all of the parts and he didn't need to bring anything except his drill. He insisted that I had to pay $75 for him to bring his truck.

There are countless electricians in the Portland area, and I have no idea why anyone would ever hire these guys. What a scam.

Poor communication and coordination to get electrician to my house. Cost to complete project was twice as much as I thought and electrician was there for 1/2 hour or less.

It went great!  They were in and out in one day.  They finished digging the trench for us and hooked up the building to my house.  A terrific job!  If I ever need them again I will call them.

The electrician, "Pat", was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of his way to make sure everything was up to par. He made sure we had what we needed.  We appreciated his attention to detail.  He answered questions and was very helpful.  I would have him back anytime.  We were very pleased with the work done by Conduit Electric.
