"After having 2 different vendors look at the roof and performed repairs, the roof still leaked. That's when I called Justin at Ridgid, he had done some HVAC work for me before. After doing the inspection of the roof, Justin and his team gave me detailed analysis of what was going on and what my options were. While the best option would be to replace the whole roof. Justin and his team were honest about the cost and offered to fix the issue first and see if held up. If it worked I could save some money. So they went ahead and fixed the roof. And voila had no issues after that. They were able to resolve the issue at a fraction of the cost for me. Highly recommend, straight forward and honest."

"Iq was wonderful to work with! He’s extremely knowledgeable in the roofing industry. He helped communicate with the insurance company and the adjuster to make sure we were being covered properly. He kept us informed along the way and even found us a better deal on shingles that are better quality than what the insurance company would pay for. He also put in new gutters with the roof that gave our home an entirely new better look! I would highly recommend IQ Roofing!"

"I have hired this company on three different occasions, Twice for siding and the third for roofing and some siding damage from the storms in 2020-21. Ryan is an easy person to work with, honest, and reasonably priced. RC Roofing comes highly recommended from me. I originally found this company on HomeAdvisor."

"Very precise workmanship. No scare tactics, just facts. Bob himself came to inspect the work before he declared it finished. I especially liked the speed with which they responded to my request for help. Bob even cut back some tree branches that were harming the roof before I told him he had the job. The workers are very clean about their site. When they left, there was not a trace of them, just a fixed roof."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The roof pitch on a Cape Cod house is normally 8/12 or 10/12, meaning the roof rises 8 to 10 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run. This is steeper than the now-standard 6/12 pitch, as Cape Cod homes were originally popular in northern states, where the steeper pitch helped snowfall slide readily off the roof.

Yes, but it won't be as effective as installing it as part of a new roof because it won't be as water-resistant. However, a drip edge installed after the fact is better than no drip edge at all.

No, there’s no specific building code that requires a roof overhang. However, installing your roof with the standard 2-inch overhang is good practice, as it helps direct runoff away from your fascia boards and roof decking and into your gutters. Some overhang is especially important in areas that see heavy rainfall and snowfall, as the risk of water getting under the roofing material and causing water damage is much higher.

The best way to check if a roofing company is legit is by asking the roofer for their license number. They should have no issue providing you with this information if they’re legitimate. You can also look to see if they have an online presence, read reviews, and ask contractors you’ve worked with before if they know the roofing company.

A new roof may improve insulation and ventilation problems that can lead to ice dams, but it’s not a solution for preventing them. All roofs are susceptible to the conditions that cause ice dams, so it’s best to invest your money into insulation and gutter management solutions rather than a new roof if you don’t need a replacement yet.
