"After having 2 different vendors look at the roof and performed repairs, the roof still leaked. That's when I called Justin at Ridgid, he had done some HVAC work for me before. After doing the inspection of the roof, Justin and his team gave me detailed analysis of what was going on and what my options were. While the best option would be to replace the whole roof. Justin and his team were honest about the cost and offered to fix the issue first and see if held up. If it worked I could save some money. So they went ahead and fixed the roof. And voila had no issues after that. They were able to resolve the issue at a fraction of the cost for me. Highly recommend, straight forward and honest."

"We decided to get our roof replaced by 1907 Roofing and couldn't be happier! Our previous roof was about 12 years old and there was an issue with a leak making its way into the interior of our home. The care and detail they put into doing a thorough inspection was truly incredible! When we called other roofing companies we were surprised how most of them didn't even take the time to inspect our roof. 1907 put in the extra time to provide helpful insight to what was really going on and what the next steps should be. They helped us get through the insurance claim process with ease and no stress! Great company! We will definitely recommend 1907 Roofing to all of our friends and family members who need help with their roofing project!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Flapping shingles, or shingles that are lifting or curling away from your roof, can be glued back into place using roofing cement or sealant. Apply the glue underneath the shingle, then press it down firmly. You can leave a brick on top of the shingle to hold it in place overnight while the sealant dries.

Most manufacturers’ warranties do not cover wind damage to roof shingles, but some companies include a wind warranty rider in their warranty offer. You can purchase this rider to protect yourself, your wallet, and your roof from any damage that might occur from wind. Be sure to read all the fine print and understand any limitations of the warranty.

This will depend on your existing roof to some degree, but it’s common to raise a roof 4 to 8 feet. The exact amount you can raise is subject to the existing structure. For most homes with average roof slopes—20 to 45 degrees—you can raise the roof around 5 feet.

Architectural shingles typically last between 20 and 30 years, though most homeowners should plan on replacing them every 20 to 25 years. While some manufacturers offer warranties for 30 to 50 years, especially for extreme weather, achieving such a long lifespan is rare. The actual lifespan can be shorter in areas prone to strong winds, hailstorms, or other extreme weather. It is recommended to replace your roof before it reaches the end of its life to reduce the risk of roof failure, leaks, and costly property damage. Scheduling regular roof inspections will help you determine your roof's remaining life and identify the best timeline for replacement.

Generally, roof flashing is installed under the shingles to create a watertight seal and prevent moisture from seeping in and causing damage. However, the exact placement can depend on the type of flashing. For instance, with step flashing, the shingles and flashing overlap each other, meaning the flashing is technically both over and under the shingles. Flashing also typically goes beneath the house siding and is often not visible from the ground.
