"I have hired this company on three different occasions, Twice for siding and the third for roofing and some siding damage from the storms in 2020-21. Ryan is an easy person to work with, honest, and reasonably priced. RC Roofing comes highly recommended from me. I originally found this company on HomeAdvisor."

"I guess that time will tell if our utility bill goes down, but the guys seemed to know what to do, and were very courteous. We have several skylights, so that might be an issue too, as there was no additional steps taken to insulate them, other than the standard blow-in. The guys did blow in some extra insulation in some downdraft closet areas in our main bathroom, so perhaps that will help. We'll see, but for now, I would rate the quality good. This company doesn't try to gouge you on the price either."

"I hired Andy to pick up a deck extension and refacing with Trex boards midway through the project as I was strapped for time. He completed the project on time and for less than what I thought it would actually cost. He is honest, dependable and his attention to detail was much appreciated. After he was finished, I hired him to come back and hang some outdoor lights as well as, fill some cracks in our basement. All of which was completed to perfection."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

A skylight's ability to withstand hail depends on factors like material quality and thickness. Impact-resistant options, such as tempered or laminated glass, fare better against hail compared to standard glass. Proper installation and regular maintenance also contribute to their resilience. While smaller hailstones may not pose a significant threat, larger ones can cause damage. Consider skylight protection methods like covers or screens in hail-prone areas to enhance durability and minimize potential harm.

Yes, you can install skylights on an existing roof, and it’s a common service that many homeowners opt for, especially on older homes built when skylights weren’t as prevalent. The installation process will be a bit more involved, and the design and planning process will take longer, meaning you’ll pay more to install a skylight on an existing roof than you would in new construction. The process involves cutting a hole in the roof, moving rafters, if necessary, and installing and sealing around the skylight.

The most popular treatment for a skylight is skylight shades. There are five primary types: manual, motorized, blackout, cellular//honeycomb, and Venetian. Motorized skylight shades are the most convenient, especially for skylights that are higher up, but manual shades are the most cost-effective treatments. Cellular/honeycomb shades are a perfect option for anyone who wants energy efficiency and an attractive look.

Repairing or replacing a skylight generally takes between a few hours to a full day. Simple repairs might take 2 to 4 hours, depending on the complexity of the problem. The total time can vary based on factors like weather conditions, the accessibility of the skylight, and the extent of the work required, such as replacing the entire unit versus performing minor repairs.

Installation typically takes 1-2 days, depending on the required roof type and structural modifications.
