"After another service came out and couldn't identify exactly where the lid was in the first 30 minutes of looking and after digging one small hole which reached the tank but not necessarily the lid, they gave up and didn't want to continue. 
Milty's called mid-day to come out but had to go dump their tank and said they would be back that day.  They actually showed up the next afternoon, but then got everything handled.

"Takes for ever to get a return a call. Also took a week to get someone out for repairs. They said they would reimburse me for septic repairs and it took over 3 months for that to happen."

"I recently purchased a Fannie Mae foreclosure, a house with nice potential but quite a mess to get started with.  I contacted a couple of names from Angie's List and Roger Allen was so professional from the get go (good guy too), I went with him pretty quickly.  He was able to get an estimate together and to my lender soon after I had asked.  I'm not an expert on pricing but his numbers were consistent with the other I had received and ended up being accurate by the time everything was done.  On small jobs that is easy, on the mess that was my house, quite a challenge.  We had problems all around from an iffy septic system, siding peeling away, no hot water heaters, ancient electrical boxes, decor from a generation long past, leaks in the shower/master bath, carpeting that had seen much better days, etc.  He was able to take care of everything inside of my budget without any glaring omissions.  Even when my wife picked out expensive paints, he was able to take care of the overage.  Roger and his people have been great, I'll be using him for any future fix-it jobs in the future for sure."

A septic tank always has some amount of liquid in it—which should usually be 8 to 12 inches from the top of the tank. If the liquid level is higher than that or is overflowing the drainage pipe that leads out to the leach field, the tank may be too full and in need of pumping.

Most home wells start at 100 feet, and many go as deep as 200 or 300 feet. 

It takes quite a lot of water to meet the demands of showers, toilets, faucets, and appliances like dishwashers and laundry machines, and shallow wells struggle to provide this amount quickly. If you anticipate having high water usage in the future, it’s often better to drill slightly deeper and give yourself a bit more water storage than you need.

You can cover a septic tank riser with dirt, but it’s not always the best idea. If you have a plastic riser and you bury it, you can easily lose track of it since you won’t be able to find it with a metal detector. Make sure to clearly note where your rise is in your yard so that you’re able to access it easily the next time you or a septic pro needs it. Don’t bury the cover too deep or you could place too much stress on it and make it too difficult to access in the future.

For homes with a septic tank, harsh chemicals like those found in drain cleaner or bleach aren’t recommended. Some chemical drain cleaners can disrupt the balance of bacteria in the septic tank or damage your pipes. For homes with a septic tank, you can choose drain cleaners specifically formulated for use with septic tanks or go with a drain snake. When in doubt, make sure you know who to call for a clogged drain. 

Because well water is not artificially filtered or pre-treated, it may contain contaminants. As a result, it’s possible for well water to damage pipes based on what is in the water. Well water can be corrosive, slowly rusting and dissolving pipes, fixtures, and fittings. The corrosion can affect the taste and quality of the drinking water that comes out of the taps in your home.
