He was a scam artist. He was bad. He misrepresenting himself. He came in at the lowest bid of course. He can do this and that, in this amount of time. Well he didn't really have a crew. Which he lied about that. He was taking our money. He didn't even pay everybody. So now we have liens on his house, because he didn't pay some of the workers. That kind of stuff. He said he needed money for one part of the house, and I paid him cash. He did the same thing to my fiance, so he was paid twice. The time, he said he was going to be done, I think he started in the Spring or something. It was suppose to be done in the Summer, and extended way beyond, almost an year. I can't tell you anything nice. We ended up firing him. I don't even think he is in business anymore. He might be, but he might be under an different name. I don't know. He wanted more money, and one guy ended up doing it. He didn't pay people. It just wasn't good. All he was is a scam artist. All he said, and he didn't deliver. All he did was talk.

I wouldn't use them again. He had given me an estimate to complete the job. It's not a quality work and I regret calling them.

It was great, I'm looking at it now, it's gorgeous. The people who built it were fabulous. In terms of pricing, he was near the bottom of some of the others. He wasn’t the lowest, but he was near the bottom. In terms of the quality of the product, I couldn’t be happier. I love the quality. I would absolutely recommend them. They did a really nice job. In fact, whilst it was near the cheapest, nothing was skimped.

Roger and his crew did a great job on both our kitchen and bathroom remodels.  He was very responsive to my questions/ requests.  I felt that we had a good working relationship throughout the whole process.  He was easy to contact and returned calls/texts in a timely manner.  The people that worked in our house were professional and did top quality work. When we had issues with work, we did not think looked its best or did not work properly, he came in a fixed them.  It has been two months since our remodel was completed and I couldn't be happier.  I love my new kitchen and bathroom.  They are both exactly what I envisioned them to be and I appreciate that it was completed in the timeline that was outlined at the beginning of the project.  I would highly recommend Roger Allen and Associates.

For the price that we paid, I feel that we received a good value. The work was done well and in a somewhat timely manner. There was a delay when the painter had to leave town due to illness in the family. This was unavoidable and Roger communicated with us throughout. Roger's employees are true artist. They came up with affordable solutions for some issues that we had. There are a few places that the paint work was a little sloppy, but considering that we paid about 20% less than the next lowest estimate, we can't complain. The reason that we won't use this company again? The valve that supplies water to our dishwasher broke off during a day early on in the remodel. This was no fault of the crew, just an old valve. The problem is that no one told us this had happened. We turned our dishwasher on and left and when we came back, everything inside, including the end of one of the washer "blades" had melted. I called Roger and we agreed that we would pay to fix the valve and he would pay to replace the damaged dishwasher "blade". He advised me that he had ordered the part, which I had researched and knew to cost around $90. Three weeks later, he said that the part still had not come in. I advised him that I would like to withhold the $125 balance for the completed job until the part was installed. He agreed that was fair. It is 2 months later and we never heard back from Roger about the replacement part. Not only has he not called us, but he has ignored the 2 times that I attempted to contact him to ask about the part. This is extremely unprofessional. If not for that one thing, I would definitely hire him in the future. It's a shame that he ended our contact this way.

Roger came to my home to provide an estimate. He arrived promptly. He was professional, very pleasant, and easy to talk to. I showed him the work I needed to have done. He measured the rooms for flooring. He spent time talking with me about some other issues I had with my house and offered some good ideas. I don't think he completely understood my vision for a change in the layout of the shower in the master bath but I would have revisited that topic with him prior to hiring him. I was concerned about a possible cat "accident" ruining new floors and Roger had a great idea to have the planks stained and sealed on site. This would help prevent moisture from getting in between the planks. Roger provided an estimate with moderate details. His estimate was about what I expected and in line with my budget. He called to follow up with me on the estimate. I wasn't home at the time and he left a message. I always appreciate it when a service provider checks back. It makes me feel like they want my business. I give him an A+ for doing that. I liked Roger. A minor health issue come up in my family and I decided to table the project for the time being.

Do make sure you think everything out in the beginning of what you really want to do. Don't change your mind mid way during remodeling, changes can cost more in the long run. Do have a good visual of what you want and make sure you write down and give to Roger in the beginning, keep a copy for yourself. Remember, he is the contractor, not the one living in your house. You need to let him know what you want. Roger has some good suggestions and ideas, but if you don't like his ideas, let him know. He's a nice guy and returns calls back very promptly. Get a completion date and DON'T do remodeling during all the major holidays. We did and it was horrible! We started in mid October and they just finished February 6th. But I love my new dining room, island in kitchen, granite, new hall, utility room and cabinets. I guess i would say it was worth the wait and I would hire Roger Allen again!!

This is the fourth remodeling project I’ve contracted over the past 25 years.  Two of them were minor and two major resulting in four different general contractors.   Based on this experience, I am providing this assessment of Roger Allen. This project was one of the major projects,  including: moving walls, adding walls, electrical, network and satellite cabling to every room;  numerous new lights – cans, sconces, florescent;  stone floor in about half the house;  travertine tile shower, bath, and jet tub;  marble overlays;  three granite counter tops;  new windows, duct work, all new solid wood doors, etc.  This was major remodeling. I contacted several general contractors and received bids from three.  One contractor was unimpressive – no creative ideas or suggestions on the remodel.  Just agreed to whatever I said.  Not helpful at all.  The second contractor was severely over priced.    The third contractor was Roger Allen.  After giving him a tour and describing my ideas; he jumped in and came up with alternatives in material and fixtures.  The end result is exquisite.   Glass blocks, marble overlays and granite tile room boarders gave this house a million dollar look.  Removing old fireplace bricks and replacing with granite tile that flowed the color scheme from the kitchen into the family room tied it all together.  The tile and granite craftsmanship was outstanding.  His tile guy is a true artist with stone and granite; the smallest detail was set perfectly.  The rough-out and trim guys were equally talented.  All employees were professional and courteous.  Roger showed up every day to inspect the work and ensure that his employees knew their job assignments for the day.  One of the walls that I requested moved was not perfect; he had them tear it apart and rebuild it.  Truthfully, it was so minor that I wouldn’t have noticed the mistake.  However it was a good example to me of the quality of workmanship that Roger’s company provides.  For the record, I’m not associated with Roger Allen nor am I receiving any compensation for this review.  I’m just very pleased with the value and outcome of my new house.  I recommend that you include him in your bid process.  Ask him to show you pictures of my master bath and fireplace.

He did a pretty good job overall. He made a terrible mess and at the end he could not find the can for the color of the paint he used on the walls. He did not find the receipt to find the color out so I could do touch ups and he never could find it. That was the only the bad part of what he did. His texture guy was great. That was probably the best thing about the whole deal. He had a really good texture guy who did the ceiling and did a great job. I would probably not use him again because of the paint thing that did not kind of feel professional. So now if I had to touch up my wall I have to take a hunk out of the wall and have it the color made from there and that’s going to be really irritating to me.

"Yes, when you scrap off a very large area of popcorn ceiling it makes a tremendous mess! The area was completely cleaned up after completion. It was my mistake for misplacing the paint reciept. I should have mentioned the all paint colors can be looked up at the paint stores from which you purchased the paint. I must admit I'm VERY suprised any of my work would be below an A average!"

I recently purchased a Fannie Mae foreclosure, a house with nice potential but quite a mess to get started with.  I contacted a couple of names from Angie's List and Roger Allen was so professional from the get go (good guy too), I went with him pretty quickly.  He was able to get an estimate together and to my lender soon after I had asked.  I'm not an expert on pricing but his numbers were consistent with the other I had received and ended up being accurate by the time everything was done.  On small jobs that is easy, on the mess that was my house, quite a challenge.  We had problems all around from an iffy septic system, siding peeling away, no hot water heaters, ancient electrical boxes, decor from a generation long past, leaks in the shower/master bath, carpeting that had seen much better days, etc.  He was able to take care of everything inside of my budget without any glaring omissions.  Even when my wife picked out expensive paints, he was able to take care of the overage.  Roger and his people have been great, I'll be using him for any future fix-it jobs in the future for sure.

It went just fine.  This was a pretty simple, straight-forward job.
I needed someone to focus on this fairly small ($3,040) and get it done, properly and promptly.
Roger stayed right on top of it until it was done, well done.

The services performed resulted in a very beautiful and functional game room area.  My wife and I are very pleased with the work.  Roger, his primary employee, Dave, and all of the sub contractors he used were outstanding.  For example, the texture blends and paint matches were exceptional.  The travertine floor is perfect.  Cabinets were of of good quality and as ordered.  The carpet was modified and replaced for a nice cost savings.  Our new room appears that it was always configured in its current state. Roger was very accessible, genuinely attempted to address all of our requests and was very easy to work with.

Roger made good suggestions for how to make necessary repairs in the most durable yet cost-efficient manner. He's good at spotting the little things that need attention and getting them taken care of, like the way a builder had not joined a corner with a tight seal. His crew worked efficiently and in a timely manner and the job was done on schedule. They also cleaned up nicely.

Very well, he will be doing the next portion of the remodel when I'm ready. Very up to date with great ideas. He came out and gave me a bid within 2 days after calling him.
