"My 450 ft long driveway badly needed to be regraded and needed a solution to the 2-3 seasonal springs that drained and washed and created deep ruts all winter and spring. TSS came and really studied the problems of the driveway, figured out a great multiple pipe drainage solution, regraded, dug out a boulder that was slowly working its way to the surface, installed the pipes. They used larger gravel around the pipes and a thick layer of gravel and dust over everything. Then rolled/compacted it all with a 3 ton roller. All of this in one day. They were very easy to work with, really listened to all of the unique issues the driveway has, carefully dug out peonies that were in the way of one pipe's end. They did a wonderful job and I'm hoping I can hire them to clear a couple of difficult hillsides befor winter too. First time in years that I can ask people to my house and not explain how to get up the driveway! "

"Our 800 foot gravel driveway with many deep potholes, a ridge between the wheel tracks and weeds growing in the edges needed help—badly. We wanted more than just more stone. We wanted a driveway that would look good and last. We got three estimates from three places we knew nothing about and let them tell us what they would do. Cooper's Blacktop was selected because of the multiple steps they would take and their explanation of each step's benefit and their promise to be done in a day. They weren't the lowest priced but not far from it. They also mentioned using a machine similar to that which is used to lay asphalt, which intrigued me. They started before 8:00 a.m. and all their crew was friendly and courteous. They were done in early afternoon and I was amazed-truly amazed. It's almost like having poured concrete. The edges were clean and straight and everything was smooth and packed down hard with a roller. It's beautiful. I would show it off to anyone. In addition to doing 'just' the drive, I asked them to widen an area, also to slope a part of the driveway so rainwater wouldn't run to our garage, and I felt one part of the driveway could use more stones, they obliged in all these things. Drilling into brick doesn’t have to be a dangerous project if you prep and approach it with the right tools and techniques, but it does come with risks if it’s not done correctly. Some older brick material is extremely hard, making it tough to create a hole. Rather than using a typical wood drill bit, always use a masonry drill bit when drilling into brick. For extremely hard brick, using a power drill with a hammer function may give you better results. The drill bit will heat up as it goes into the extremely hard brick, so you may need to stop after a few minutes and allow the bit to cool before starting to drill again.

The material you use depends on how hard-wearing your steps need to be and what you want them to look like. The most common stone for exterior steps is bluestone. It’s hard-wearing and durable, and bluestone steps cost between $15 and $30 per linear foot. Limestone is also a popular option and is mid-range, costing $25 to $50 per linear foot. You should always consider the specific requirements of your project before ordering any materials.
