Picking out the slab was fun, but it was all downhill from there. The workers showed up to do the install and immediately began tearing out the old stuff, and destroying my kitchen walls in the process. I now have to patch, sand, and repaint the entire kitchen because they didn’t take their time on the tear out. Not to mention they measured wrong when they came out to take their template, so they had to dig into the drywall on the entire perimeter to find more room. The nail in the coffin was the plumber didn’t have me in his schedule for the following morning. So after waiting three hours, for the no call, no show, I had to hire my own since I lost all faith in this company. I will hire someone else on my next project.

Great - no complications - The fabricator came out on a Thursday and promised the countertops 2 weeks later - and it actually happened!!

The process was great. I picked a granite slab from a granite supplier. Stone Design had given me 4-5 granite suppliers to choose from. Once I found the slab(s) we liked, Stone Design quoted a price for the granite slab (62 sq ft required), including installation. Their price was very competitive with other vendors and included a coupon for Angie's List customers, which took $300 off the original price. The measurement and install was right on schedule. We did have an issue with the granite island after install were there was epoxy lines from the manufacturer of the granite slab. We scheduled a date to resolve the issue about 1 week out from the install. After taking the island back to the shop, they cut another island from the remnant that was left. It was a 3 day turn-around for resolving the island issue which was great. Stone Design exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend them as your countertop vendor.

From start to finish Stone Design was helpful with all questions and kept a professional approach to the job. Would defiantly hire them again. We picked an upper level granite $67/sqft and had approx 40 square feet to the job. Used Camel Cream granite from Unique Stone supplier. Did back splash in tile myself.

used Stone Design to reuse granite countertops after a water leak ruined our original cabinets. Our insurance company required us to try and save our granite countertops. This required recutting the seam and installing the countertops onto new cabinets.  Many (all except Stone Design) said that reusing the granite was doomed to failure. Most likely the countertops would break or would not fit onto new cabinets. However Stone design handled it with ease and did so in a courteous and professional manner.

We started looking at granite with another provider and were surprised that we did not have as much square footage as we had thought. We did not like the first company so we did our research on Angies List and found Stone Design. Osman was great from the first time we met him. The first step is to go pick out the granite and that was a bit daunting to make sure we found the best color and then the best slab. We visited 4 yards multiple times and ended up with Kashmir White from Unique in Fairfield. In doing the research we found out that the mid-level granite is not that much more than the cheapest so go with what you like. The install went very smoothly. There were a few places that needed a little more sealer and they came back very promptly and touched up with sealer.

There were 2 things that really helped our job: 1. he could get the whole job in one slab; 2. We had a coupon for the free vanity so we got the powder room vanity as well.

The granite is bright and really brightens up our kitchen.  We also used Mees Distributing and Ray Hacker (tile installation for the backsplash). Through much search and negotiation we ended up with handmade off-white subway tile for the backsplash. We're very happy with the end result.

I highly recommend Stone Design. Everything from the measuring, templating and cutting to the installation was done with great attention to detail. The pricing was also very good. The owner was on the install and he and his team were nothing short of A+ in all respects including . I highly recommend this company !  The quality, service, value for your money and attention to detail are second to none.

This was my 2nd experience with Stone Design.  The first, a kitchen remodel was fine which is why I decided to use them for the Master bath remodel.  This time it was a very bad experience.  Whoever answers the phone acted like she was doing me a favor just talking to me and seemed quite exasperated.  It was painful dealing with her.  The install was set up for noon 6/23.  I arranged to take off work.  I understood they had an install prior to mine and might not be there at noon.  I called to confirm at 12:19.  Good luck getting a live person to answer the phone.  No one did for quite awhile.  Nor did anyone call back.  As no one had arrived at 2pm, I called again and was told they had a major install out of town and were still working on that, but likely should be there around 2:30 or so.  They finally showed up at 3:30 pm and finished at 6:30 pm.  I lost an afternoon off work sitting around waiting.  They did not even have the courtesy to call to let me know of the timing.  And on top of it, I had to deal with the same snippy person on the phone who seemed to think this was my problem and I should be honored that they were even doing my countertops.

When I looked closely at the countertop install later that evening,  the tops of the backsplashes were milky white and none of the beautiful granite showed through.  They looked like they had been installed upside down.  When you walk into the room, instead of noticing the beautiful countertop,  a band of white on the backsplash top is what you notice.  It looks quite bad.

I called the next morning and asked for someone to come out to look at it.  It was set up for 2:00 on 7/2. No one arrived.  I did reach Brian at 2:51 who said he would check and let me know what was going on. It is now 4:00.  No one called me back to let me know if they were still coming.  And again, I cannot reach anyone at Stone Design.  Nor has anyone called me back.

Extremely disappointing- it's taken what should have been a very fun event and ruined it.   I cannot tell enough people about this bad experience as I continue to seek resolution.

I rate the owner of Stone Design - who is also the chief designer, computer guru and installer - as the single most competent business owners I've dealt with since moving to Cincinnati area nine years ago.  I don't feel I'm exaggerating that claim.  He is quietly pleasant, runs an efficient shop of granite workers with seemingly little effort while seemingly avoiding even having to speak to them.  The chief grantite cutter (who operates with computer control of a cutting machine) and each of the fabrication/intallation workers knows their job and everyone does it competently and with almost no discussion so that they appear supremely coordinated.  The owner is quite sensitive to design and agreeable in our dealings, taking my wishes into account without argument but making wonderfully subtle suggestions that I accepted and that paid off.   He was responsive to a final minor post-installation complaint and fixed it to my satisfaction without argument or unnecessary delay.  His company is busy but the person being served on the day of installation would not be aware of this since all thought and effort and great care is devoted to the customer during the installation.  The company was extremely good, as well, at making schedule/dates and sticking to them.  I did not witness the owner or any of his men taking a single phone call while on the installation job which last several hours.  His crew was quiet, confident and competent.  The single complaint I had against Stone Design was in getting the process of counter top installation started (thus the low score for "Responsiveness" - a score that does not apply to the owner/installer).  I had considerable initial trouble with the reception staff and  the sales staff in that they didn't return email requests asking for preliminary information that I felt I must know.  Emails, in particular, were like pulling teeth.  When the sales staff tells you "we miss a lot of emails because they never reach us" and yet they use the same ISP as you do and you have zero trouble missing emails, you get the distinct impression that you're being fed a line that rests on your believing that we all still live in 1985 with respect to email and web technology and that they (not the owner) do not want to waste their time with silly discussions of details.  Maybe they're overworked.

There's really not a whole lot to say. We went to the local granite yard (Mont) and picked out a higher end slab, then got some quotes. Stone Design was the cheapest, in fact it was $2000 cheaper than our highest quote. There's no hidden markups that we encountered at some other places.
Once the slab was delivered to Stone Design, we went in to see the layout of where it would be cut. The whole process was pretty painless and they were professional when they came out to measure and again when they came out to install. There was one issue with the edging, but that was able to be fixed on site. Very happy and would recommend.

I started working with Stone Design last October- when I was looking for a granite remnant for our master bath remodel project-it started great and then we had a little bump in the road--BUT, Brian worked hard to make the situation right and even though we weren't able to find a suitable master bath vanity we did use them for a shower bench seat and for a granite top for our guest bathroom. We chose White Springs which is a light color and has quite a bit of quartz in it.  The slab they had was a great match for our needs.

As we were working with another granite company simultaneously I was able to compare the level of customer service and workmanship. Stone Design won hands down. They were concerned about customer satisfaction.
Kaelah who works the front desk, answering the phone and showing the pieces in the warehouse is a very kind young woman.
When Brian came out to measure he measured digitally, which gave us a really good fit in both locations.  We live in an older house so nothing is square. He was prompt and professional. Before the piece was cut I changed my mind on which sink we were going to use and there was no problem as he had all the measurements no matter our decision.
They were very good about having me come in and help layout the template to include the pattern/color we liked and avoid what we didn't as much as is possible dealing with a natural stone.
I had to change the install date a couple of times due to our contractor's schedule and a work conflict--they were very accommodating and pleasant during the transaction.
The install crew was also prompt and were careful.  They did a nice job--they put down drop cloths on the floors to keep from tracking in snow and didn't do any damage to the walls and did a nice careful job caulking around the side/back splashes with paintable caulk.  The following day I thought the surface felt a little gritty/rough so I called back.  Immediately my concern was taken seriously and they scheduled a return visit at my convenience.
The owner, Osman, and a couple other young men came today and worked on both pieces a little more.  Both pieces turned out great.
I have no issue with a company if a mistake is made or the initial workmanship isn't perfect as long as they make it right and these folks did.  I would definitely use them again.
