There were 2 things that really helped our job: 1. he could get the whole job in one slab; 2. We had a coupon for the free vanity so we got the powder room vanity as well.
The granite is bright and really brightens up our kitchen. We also used Mees Distributing and Ray Hacker (tile installation for the backsplash). Through much search and negotiation we ended up with handmade off-white subway tile for the backsplash. We're very happy with the end result.
This was my 2nd experience with Stone Design. The first, a kitchen remodel was fine which is why I decided to use them for the Master bath remodel. This time it was a very bad experience. Whoever answers the phone acted like she was doing me a favor just talking to me and seemed quite exasperated. It was painful dealing with her. The install was set up for noon 6/23. I arranged to take off work. I understood they had an install prior to mine and might not be there at noon. I called to confirm at 12:19. Good luck getting a live person to answer the phone. No one did for quite awhile. Nor did anyone call back. As no one had arrived at 2pm, I called again and was told they had a major install out of town and were still working on that, but likely should be there around 2:30 or so. They finally showed up at 3:30 pm and finished at 6:30 pm. I lost an afternoon off work sitting around waiting. They did not even have the courtesy to call to let me know of the timing. And on top of it, I had to deal with the same snippy person on the phone who seemed to think this was my problem and I should be honored that they were even doing my countertops.
When I looked closely at the countertop install later that evening, the tops of the backsplashes were milky white and none of the beautiful granite showed through. They looked like they had been installed upside down. When you walk into the room, instead of noticing the beautiful countertop, a band of white on the backsplash top is what you notice. It looks quite bad.
I called the next morning and asked for someone to come out to look at it. It was set up for 2:00 on 7/2. No one arrived. I did reach Brian at 2:51 who said he would check and let me know what was going on. It is now 4:00. No one called me back to let me know if they were still coming. And again, I cannot reach anyone at Stone Design. Nor has anyone called me back.
Extremely disappointing- it's taken what should have been a very fun event and ruined it. I cannot tell enough people about this bad experience as I continue to seek resolution.
Once the slab was delivered to Stone Design, we went in to see the layout of where it would be cut. The whole process was pretty painless and they were professional when they came out to measure and again when they came out to install. There was one issue with the edging, but that was able to be fixed on site. Very happy and would recommend.
As we were working with another granite company simultaneously I was able to compare the level of customer service and workmanship. Stone Design won hands down. They were concerned about customer satisfaction.
Kaelah who works the front desk, answering the phone and showing the pieces in the warehouse is a very kind young woman.
When Brian came out to measure he measured digitally, which gave us a really good fit in both locations. We live in an older house so nothing is square. He was prompt and professional. Before the piece was cut I changed my mind on which sink we were going to use and there was no problem as he had all the measurements no matter our decision.
They were very good about having me come in and help layout the template to include the pattern/color we liked and avoid what we didn't as much as is possible dealing with a natural stone.
I had to change the install date a couple of times due to our contractor's schedule and a work conflict--they were very accommodating and pleasant during the transaction.
The install crew was also prompt and were careful. They did a nice job--they put down drop cloths on the floors to keep from tracking in snow and didn't do any damage to the walls and did a nice careful job caulking around the side/back splashes with paintable caulk. The following day I thought the surface felt a little gritty/rough so I called back. Immediately my concern was taken seriously and they scheduled a return visit at my convenience.
The owner, Osman, and a couple other young men came today and worked on both pieces a little more. Both pieces turned out great.
I have no issue with a company if a mistake is made or the initial workmanship isn't perfect as long as they make it right and these folks did. I would definitely use them again.
Friendly, professional, and darn quick! They actually came out the same day when I realized my cooktop was ready for delivery.
Thank you for your prompt service!
