"Mark was super easy to work with and our fence looks great. He was responsive and honest and upfront through the whole process. He gave us great advice on how to get what we were looking for, was honest about the time frame, and answered all of our questions very promptly. I wish all business owners were this nice to work with and I recommend him 100%."

"Manny responded promptly to my initial Angi request, showed up a day or two later to quote and started the project a week later. Everything looks great, and I can't even tell where he made the repair to my chain link fence. High quality work at a reasonable price, and I will recommend Hardrick Fence to others and use them again for any future fence repairs."

"Excellent work. He and his crew spend several days power washing and then painting the deck and fence, during some very hot and humid days. They were professional and made every effort to keep over spray off of neighbors lawn. I would use him any time I need painting done. I have a very big fence and the deck was showing a lot of wear. Both look great. I would recomend Mr Garrity and his team to anyone. I am super pleased with the outcome.

"Savant did an amazing job on our project. They had the whole job completed in 2.5 days. The pricing was very competitive. We received several quotes for the work and Savant was cheaper than most other contractors. With the service and quality of work we received I would say they are well worth the the cost. We even had some leaking on the garage roof and where other companies had quoted us to replace all of the wood for the roof, Savant was able to replace just the rotted boards and saved us hundreds if not thousands. Excellent work at an excellent price."

"Excellent work as usual! This was a rehire, so I knew what to expect. I had them paint the walls, floor and ceiling of the basement... it came out so much better than I could have ever imagined! It was Jim's idea to paint the ceiling white to brighten up the basement and then also to use deco flakes on the new grey floors. It no longer looks like the dungeon that it once did... it's a brand new basement in a townhouse that was built in 1900! I was blown away! On the exterior, they painted my front and back porch and turned my unused back patio area into off street parking (I live in the city and this will add a tremendous amount of value). To do this, they removed a portion of fence and poured asphalt to create a smooth entrance to the parking spot... they are capable of doing it all! In the bathroom, they put a new commode, vanity, reran electrical to adjust the lighting and painted. Everything came out superb! Jim always offers great ideas and executes for fair and reasonable prices! I plan on using Callahan Painting for all future contracting needs and will recommend them to whoever else is in need!"

"We've used Jaime about 10 times. . . . .we don't feel there is anyone else worth calling in the area, can do it all. Ran new electrical box to wall and installed electric fireplace in our finished basement side. Jaime had to get creative as the wall was discovered to be solid and not regular drywall. But he does it like it's nothing. Thanks again."

"I am very pleased with the quality of workmanship. The materials (Royal Woodland) used were better quality than competitive bids and at a lower price. Bob was great to work with. He's been doing this for many years and obviously knows what needs to be done. His crew did a great job. I highly recommend them."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

This depends mainly on how well the posts were installed and what type of wood was used to build the gate in the first place. Softwoods have a life expectancy of up to 15 years but can last slightly longer with regular maintenance and waterproofing treatments. By contrast, hardwoods can last up to 30 years with little care, so you may avoid costly replacements by spending a little more upfront.

While they can be closer, the maximum distance between fence posts for residential fences is 8 feet. This ensures the panels are adequately supported by the fence posts. This is usually dictated by the width of the panel, which is typically between 5 and 8 feet. While narrower panels will require more posts, they’ll be lighter and easier to work with than wider panels that are the same height.

Fences made out of redwood, cedar, or pressure-treated pine are the most durable. These materials can last anywhere between 15 to 40 years so long as they are properly maintained. Make sure to clean your fence regularly and pressure wash once a year. After pressure washing, apply a sealant and/or fresh paint to keep it looking fresh.

The ideal spacing for four-by-four residential fence posts is usually about 6 to 8 feet between posts. However, if the fence is particularly high or you live in a very windy region, you might want to space them closer together for better stability. A fence pro can help you decide on your post spacing.

While picking a standard chain-link fence might be your first instinct, that metal can easily rust over time, making your space look not-so-great. Black chain-link fences are a simple and affordable way to fence in an area of your yard and are also less prone to showing rust than traditional galvanized steel chain-link fences. Plus, black chain-link fencing is a more unique option that can look very striking and elegant when installed properly.
