"The job went extremely well.  The crew was professional, courteous and fast.  They worked with us on scheduling so we could get the tub in before our girls returned for Christmas break.

"Joshua did a great job clearing the drain. He was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and personable. He arrived during the promised time window, and he explained his approach and the pricing up front. After receiving my ok to proceed, he found and cleared the blockage quickly, then he tested thoroughly before packing up his gear and cleaning up the area. The price is the best I was quoted, and the service was great. Definitely will call Eco Plumbing again."

"The company was on top of their game to make sure my shower was exactly how I wanted it. There was a miscommunication with the shower doors and the company took care of it immediately, I am extremely satisfied with the way it was handled."

"Wonderful kitchen remodel 1st in Home Improvements did a great job on my complete kitchen remodel. Various updates had been made to the kitchen in our 1913 home but never with any planning or thought. It was definitely time for a total makeover. Although a fairly large room, approx. 280 sq. feet, with tall windows on two outside walls, an open stairway to the basement, hallway entering the middle of the space and a door to the dining room there wasn’t much wall space to place cabinets in a cohesive manner. There was space in the middle of the room for an 8 foot island. Efficient use of space dictated that we put the sink in the island and Joe accomplished this with no problems. One glitch we ran into during the construction process was the island turned out to be too close to the back wall cabinets and the space was very tight. Joe and his crew took the island apart and moved it a couple of inches into the room, away from the back cabinets, with minimal complaint. This seemingly small adjustment improved the workflow space and I was grateful for their effort. They built two pantry closets in space that was difficult to utilize. This greatly improved the storage in the kitchen, making it possible to store many needed items without a great deal of cabinetry. While in the process of initial planning and gathering cost information, Joe made the suggestion to put recessed lighting in the ceiling, which I wasn’t planning to do because I thought it would be too expensive. He pointed out that he would have to tear the ceiling up anyway so it wouldn’t add much to the cost. This turned out to be a great decision providing a lot of excellent lighting without being obtrusive. During construction, Joe asked many questions, making sure that they were proceeding according to my wishes. We ran into a problem while laying out the handmade tile backsplash with elongated diamond shaped tiles. The pattern that I had initially chosen had many straight lines, resulting in wavy lines everywhere that were too unnerving. Joe and his crew suggested an alternative way of laying out the tiles, which turned out to be an improvement on the original pattern and resulted in a great looking backsplash. The quality control turned out to be substandard on the custom cabinets I had ordered online. Although the company was willing to make replacements, getting them to do so in a timely manner was difficult. Joe did a great job of fixing them up in some cases, and making them look good. He even returned after finishing the job to put on a replacement cabinet door that arrived after the job was completed. Joe and his crew painted the kitchen and trim, laid a new LVT floor, installed large glass pendant fixtures over the island, in short did everything necessary to complete a gorgeous new kitchen. And did so while being pleasant to be around and tidying up the workspace everyday before leaving the jobsite. I highly recommend 1st in Home Improvements. They produced a beautiful kitchen and did so for a reasonable price."

"I have been a Everdry Customer since the early 1990's. I've been completely satisfied. My home was built in the 1880-1890's, so the basement was really an old cellar. Additionally, it was a Rock Foundation. Everyday turned my cellar into a usable Basement. And it has been dry ever since. This was the best investment we have ever made on our home. We have continued our warranty payment every year. The sump pump went out, Everdry sent out a tech and replaced the sump pump no questions asked...Great experience."

"The work that was provided was performed promptly and the crew leader was responsible and offered some extra interior drain lines due to the fact that the crawl space was extremely open making it very easy to do their work. They did the extra exterior drain line installation per the contract footage pricing to take the sump line to the street curb. very quickly and appearing to be quite well done. The testing of the sump action when they added water to the interior sump pit showed a quick deposit of water into the street. However, I am still seeing evidence of water in the CMU surfaces above elevation of the new interior drain line that was installed. I assume this to indicate that something should have been done at the wall exterior to take water away from the foundation (probably the J-channel installation)."

"Faith Built was hired to complete a master bathroom remodel for our home. From start to finish, this company has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Cory and Rob (co-owners) were prompt in all of their communication with us, and the team that worked in our home did spectacular work and were always professional and courteous in their interactions with us. The project was fairly extensive- ripping out an old cast iron tub, taking down old subway tile and baseboard heaters, and installing new light fixtures, a shower, painting, flooring, etc. Throughout the project they kept me up to speed on progress, discussed any unknowns they had run into and how to resolve it (like old plumbing that needed fixed), etc. I could not be more pleased with how the master bath looks now!"

"Harmond helped me over video link to test the components in my broken refrigerator. The testing confirmed that it was the compressor that had failed. I purchased a new refrigerator because I decided it was not worth the cost to replace the compressor."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Unlike some home problems, such as water damage or pest infestations, asbestos can be very difficult to spot. Asbestos is a mineral in the form of microscopic fibers and was previously used in building materials for its bonding and fireproofing abilities. Insulation, roof shingles, ceiling tiles, floor tiles, pipe wrappings, soundproofing materials, and textured paint features like popcorn ceilings are common sources of asbestos, particularly in homes built before 1980.

Age is perhaps the biggest indicator of asbestos, as legislation passed in the 1970s labeled asbestos as dangerous and regulated its use in building materials. Signs of age in the form of wear and tear or material degradation are also indicators that asbestos fibers may be leaking into the air, but ultimately, it’s difficult to detect with the naked eye. If you have reason to suspect asbestos in your home, it’s best to hire a certified asbestos inspector.

While it's possible to cover asbestos tile with carpet, it's not recommended. Encapsulating tile beneath carpet doesn't eliminate the health risks. Over time, the asbestos tiles could degrade, releasing fibers into the air and potentially contaminating the carpet. Disturbance during carpet installation or removal might also release fibers.

Asbestos is a carcinogen, meaning it increases the risk of cancer. Inhaling asbestos fibers is linked to several respiratory issues, including asbestosis, or scarring on the lungs, lung cancer, and mesothelioma, another type of cancer. There's also a link between asbestos exposure and an increased risk of colon cancer and other cancers of the digestive system.

Usually, the people most at risk for disease related to asbestos exposure are those who spend a lot of time working around the material without protection. Electricians who work with asbestos wire have a higher risk of developing mesothelioma or lung cancer due to their exposure.

Most manufacturers stopped putting asbestos in linoleum before 1980 due to public concerns about its toxicity. However, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) didn’t ban asbestos-containing products until 1989, and a comprehensive ban was not announced until 2024. This means that homes built after 1989 may still have asbestos in their flooring.

Since the EPA partially banned asbestos in 1989, it is no longer used to manufacture new siding in the United States; production had largely ceased by the early 1980s. Many other countries, such as Canada, Iceland, and Denmark, also have bans on asbestos. However, asbestos siding is still present in many homes built before the late 1980s. The only definitive way to know if your siding contains asbestos is to have it professionally lab-tested.
