"

Jackson put an egress window in our basement which because of the thickness of our basement walls, the hardness of the ground around our house, and a rain delay did not prove to be an easy task.  They were very professional and paid especially close attention to every detail, even catching a slight flaw in the original window they brought, which they then retrieved a new one to ensure that the quality of the window was not sacrificed.  They did an excellent job and we would recommend them again in a heartbeat.

"Team from Power completed the work on time and cleaned up well after work was completed. Windows were measured correctly so replacement windows fit perfectly and were quality Pella windows versus no-name windows offered by other vendors."

"I called Victors Roofing to come provide a quote. I was impressed from the initial phone call, and every step of the process thereafter. Chad from Victors Roofing came to my house and provided a wealth of information and options to consider. He took great care to explain all the options, never once did I feel I was being up-sold or pressured. I felt at all times like he, and Victors Roofing where trying to win my business vs. just expecting it. We ultimately gave the project to Victors Roofing, solely based on our interactions with Chad and the company he represented. On the day the work began, the large crew were there early and took great care to protect my windows, landscape and surrounding area. The crew worked tirelessly, and were extremely respectful at all times. Doing a complete tear off roof project makes an enormous mess. I knew the crew would clean up, but to be honest – I was pretty sure I would have some work to do after they left, considering all the small items all over the area. They cleaned up the entire area, raked my landscape to grab everything and made sure trash the blew into the neighbors yards was picked up. I live in 3 acres, the wind blew stuff a good distance, and they got all of it. When they left, you couldn’t tell they were even there!!! If anyone has a small or large roofing project, for me there is only one company they should consider: Victors Roofing. Great Job Guys! My house looks amazing, especially with the new and improved low profile venting design. Thank you for everything!"

Windows questions, answered by experts

Yes, egress windows must meet local building codes for size and accessibility. Professional installers ensure compliance.

The most common types of window frames include frame and sash, metal or aluminum frames, composite frames, fiberglass frames, vinyl frames, wood frames, glass or glazed frames, and insulated frames. Frames can also be categorized by operating types, such as awning frames, single/double-sliding frames, fixed frames, casement frames, and single/double-hung frames.

You can choose 5/8-inch plywood or 3/4-inch plywood—anything thinner than these sizes may not withstand the impact of debris propelled by strong winds or can be easily torn off by intruders. Remember that the durability of the wood board is crucial, particularly for safeguarding your windows during severe storms. The effectiveness of using wood boards for protecting the investment you made in your home relies on using the appropriate material and ensuring proper installation.

There are several ways to reduce noise coming through your windows. You can seal gaps around the window frames with acoustic caulk or fresh weatherstripping to reduce noise and air leaks. Installing sound-dampening curtains, thick blinds, or shades can also help deaden sound vibrations. For an additional interior barrier, consider installing an acrylic or plexiglass sheet inside the window, which stifles sound while still allowing for outdoor views. Another strategy is to add external barriers, like dense shrubbery or a sturdy fence, to block neighborhood noises. If these methods are not effective enough, it might be time to install new noise-canceling windows.

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.
