"I truly enjoyed having Gary work on our project and I plan to hire him in the next few months to do my kitchen remodel. What sets him apart from the rest is his integrity. When he tells you he will call or come over, he does it. His price is his price and all receipts are documented. The quality of his work is excellent!
I did wait over a month for Gary to work on my project, but he is well worth the wait. (Frankly, I take that as a good sign that he is busy because that means he is very good.) He contacted me twice during the waiting period to let me know how far out he was from my project and then called me the week before he planned to start it. I think we have all experienced the no call, no show folks in this industry and it was refreshing to finally have someone who cared about following up with his clients.

"The guy I met with was great from the company.  The person who came to do the work was not great.  Very nice but didn't show up the day I was told but came the next date.  That didn't really bother me because I didn't need to be home for it.  Just thought the overall work was ok to marginal at best.  The lattice work wasn't very good.  We couldn't afford the person I wanted to go with but know I regret the decision.

"We have worked with Brad Holbert with Hunter Construction Co., on a number of home renovation projects from 2002-2012. During this time, we have been extremely satisfied with both cost and quality, as well as Brad's integrity.
Brad excels at project management and the orchestration ensuring that everything falls into place in a timely manner. Brad has incredible follow through and a great sense of urgency. He clearly understands a homeowners concerns and frustrations.
Working with Hunter Construction, we never have to worry about loose ends. In fact, we used Hunter Construction's services to help us when we needed a new roof. We could of found a roofing company on our own through friends, but we knew that if a problem arose over time, we could always call Brad, and he would take care of it. Having had a problem in the past with shady
workmanship and tradesman disappearing, engaging Hunter Construction Co., for this purpose gave us the added security of knowing we always had someone to call if a problem occurred after the work was completed. One of the greatest benefits of working with Hunter is Brad's temperament. Brad returns calls promptly and is always available. Brad is an excellent Handyman and is less than half the price of other handyman companies. We highly recommend Brad and his company, Hunter Construction Co.

"Amazing experience.  I hired Ron and his crew to gut and remodel a powder room in my home built around 1850.  There are no straight lines, level surfaces or right angles so all the work was challenging.  Not only did they do a wonderful job, they uncovered and restored an original brick wall we didn't even know we had.  What I appreciate is Ron's ability to bring unique ideas to the table and enhance the result of the work within the same budget.  I immediately hired them to remodel another bathroom and will use them exclusively as we work to restore our home.  I couldn't recommend them more highly. Ron, Matt and Mike are like family.  I trust them completely.

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Aging municipal water and sewer connections dictate mandatory upgrades during home building to handle increased demand. For homes built before 1978, you must hire certified specialists to safely remove lead paint and asbestos. Additionally, evaluate your lot grading to ensure proper drainage away from the foundation. Always check for utility easements and resolve any prior unpermitted work to meet OH building standards.

Helpful?

In the short term, home building resolves unsafe deferred maintenance and brings your property up to current Ohio building codes. Upgraded insulation and mechanical systems provide immediate relief from high utility costs. Long-term benefits include increased property value and enhanced flood resilience. Proper construction techniques also extend your foundation’s lifespan while contributing to broader neighborhood stabilization efforts across Marion.

Helpful?

Check your foundation for settling or cracking, as Marion sits on clay-heavy soils prone to expansion. If you own an older property, inspect for outdated knob-and-tube wiring, balloon framing, or plaster walls, which require special care during home building. You should also verify your flood zone status and address any existing basement moisture issues before starting structural modifications.

Helpful?

Narrow urban lots in Marion restrict side additions, pushing home building toward rear or second-story expansions to preserve outdoor space. When opening up compartmentalized historic floor plans, you must install engineered beams to replace load-bearing walls safely. Additionally, strict OH energy standards dictate the size and placement of windows, directly influencing both the natural light and exterior appearance of your home.

Helpful?

Start by consulting the local building department to confirm required permits and inspection schedules for home building. Conduct a boundary survey to identify property lines and easements. Schedule concrete pours between late spring and early fall to avoid freeze-thaw damage. Verify zoning compliance for setbacks and lot coverage, and always contact OH utility services before digging to protect underground lines.
