"I cannot say enough positive things about Chris and Bobbie from Red Dirt Garden and Home who completed our sunroom project for Patio Enclosures. They were highly professional and knowledgeable about their craft. I have had other home improvement projects done at my home and I have not had the trust and confidence in any one like I had with Chris and Bobbie. I would highly recommend them for any home improvement project."

"This is the 2nd time we have used John Suleva and 1st Impressions.  They originally did a stone paver patio for us 6 years ago below and existing deck.  We love the patio so much, that when our poorly constructed deck failed, we had John come back and replaced the deck with a raised paver patio using the same pavers to match the previous patio they had installed.  They once again did an incredible job.  They are meticulous in their work.  They leave the yard and surroundings as clean and undisturbed as possible.  They pour a concrete pad and lay the pavers on top of that.  This process may cost a bit more, but it is SO worth it. These patios will last a life time and never move or have weeds grow up between the pavers.  I'm sure you could find someone a little cheaper, but you get what you pay for.  They do superior quality work and are a pleasure to work with.  They were actually done a week earlier than we had expected too! The best contractor we have ever dealt with.

Customers say: True professional

"We hired CDJ Remodeling to power wash our patio, fill in the gaps between pavers, and then seal the entire patio. Once we met with him for the first time, we also added on cleaning our gutters and power washing the back of our house. The final project looks fabulous. What was especially nice about working with Chris Montell was his professionalism, attention to detail, and follow through. He has a great sense of keeping in touch with the customer and is extremely personable. We would definitely hire him again for any other job we needed to have done. Chris is a pro."

Patios questions, answered by experts

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it meets certain criteria. For instance, it must be completely enclosed with solid walls and a roof. It should also have a heating and cooling source similar to the rest of the home. Finally, the porch should have direct access to and from the interior of your house.

The least expensive way to enclose a porch is with screens. These protect the room by preventing insects from entering and, if you live in a warm climate, provide excellent airflow during hot summer months. Screens cost far less than any other alternative, so if you are against getting permits, spending too much, or enclosing your porch in walls or glass, screens are the best choice.

A solarium is a luxury addition to a home and can be an excellent breakfast area or reading space, but that doesn't mean there aren't disadvantages. For one, since the room is made of glass it can look dirty very quickly. Another disadvantage is solariums are notoriously hard to balance temperature and will most likely significantly increase your heating and air conditioning bill. Unlike a greenhouse addition to a house, a solarium won’t help you grow as many plants.

In most parts of the U.S., adding a screened-in porch requires a building permit. Since this type of project often involves structural work and changes to your home’s footprint, homeowners should adhere to local guidelines. That said, permit rules can vary widely depending on where you live and how extensive the project is. Before you start sketching out plans or ordering materials, check in with your city or county’s building department to avoid headaches, fines, and potential structural issues down the line.

A prefab sunroom will last for between 10 and 20 years in most cases, although you could get up to 50 years out of a high-quality prefab sunroom. In addition to material quality, your prefab sunroom’s lifespan will depend on the foundation type and the climate in your area. Extreme weather and expansive soil can decrease the expected life.
