Customers say: Quality work

"Driveway looks nice, but they didn't seal it. They haven't responded to my message asking about whether sealing was included. I guess I'll have to do that myself. I also spent several hours cleaning stone and tar out of the grass."

"I recently hired ARC Roofing and Paving to remove weeds and grass from the cracks in my driveway. I was impressed by how thorough they were; they didn't just clear the visible weeds but also made sure to fill the cracks properly afterward. Michael and Sammy were friendly and professional, making the whole process pretty easy for me. After the work was done, my driveway looked much cleaner and well-maintained. It’s nice to see the weeds gone, and I feel like the repairs will help extend the life of my driveway. Overall, I’d recommend ARC Roofing and Paving."

"I'm not one to write a review at all or atleast until I see how the work holds up over time since I've been burned by contractors in the past. I can say with confidence that Impact paving did what they said they were going to do and then some. The crew worked very hard and cleaned up after themselves. The owner was on the job the entire time working just as hard as his emoyees. I truly repect that since I'm a 26 year in business contractor myself and am on the job everystep of the way as well. I had someone pull on to my driveway before it had been properly cured and it was entirely my fault. They came back quickly to seal over the tire tracks. I'm sure they came out of their way to do this for me and refused to accept any money. That is a true profesional in my book. My family loves the new driveway. and the smiles on my kids faces was worth every penny when they realized that they could ride their bikes without navigating the bumpy gravel. Way to go guys, we love it!"

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s possible to seal your driveway too much. Whether you have an asphalt or concrete driveway, sealing it every year opens your driveway to potential damage. Sealing an asphalt driveway annually may cause the seal to crack and peel even more. It may even trap oils within the asphalt that can leave you driving on a soft driveway. Avoid sealing your concrete driveway too much to prevent the concrete from cracking. If water enters these cracks, it can freeze, expand, and cause the cracks to worsen.

In general, crack fillers last for about two years on average. That timeline can be shorter if you have extremely harsh winters or longer if you live in a mild climate. Luckily, this product is pretty affordable at the hardware store (about $10 to $30) and easy to DIY, so redoing it every few years shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

If you notice minor cosmetic problems with your driveway, you should seal it. Look out for cracks and holes on the surface, faded asphalt or concrete, and stains from oil and other chemicals. Replacing your driveway may be necessary if you’re dealing with significant problems—¼-inch cracks, large potholes, and puddles from drainage issues. The cost to install an asphalt driveway typically ranges between $4,200 and $9,000, significantly more than resealing. Consider talking to a professional to discuss whether resurfacing your driveway—a midway project between resealing and replacing—is a better option for you.

In general, water-based driveway sealers are considered the most eco-friendly option. Products that utilize water, limestone, and some basic binding agents have lower VOC levels and odor levels compared to sealants made with oil or tar. In recent years, soy-based driveway sealers have become available for homeowners who want fully VOC-free driveway sealers.
