"Terrible customer service from the owner Kelli. She was rude and basically called me a liar. When I made the appt I told her we have never had the septic tank pumped and we didn’t know where the access was. She said no problem they can find it. Not a word about any charges if they couldn’t. I called again the week of the appt to make sure they knew that the kid was not exposed and asked them if they were sure that they could find it. I was again assured that they could. No mention of any fees if they could not. They come out and poke around for a bit, can’t find it and charge me $88. That is certainly something they should tell you up front. I called and left a message telling them that it came as a surprise to me and that they need to let customers know that. The owner called me back and stated she did tell me that and that I told her the lid was exposed. I did not. She argued with me and basically called me a liar and said she told me. She was very rude and that’s terrible customer service."

"My sump pump stopped working and due to living on a lake and the large amount of rain we just got, my basement was quickly starting to flood. I called Dave with Primp Plumbing and due to the emergency, he was at my home within 30 minutes! He replaced my sump pump with a much better model than I originally had. I am thrilled with the service and will definitely be calling them again when the need arises."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

To determine whether your homeowners' insurance will cover crawl space repair, consider the cause of the issue. Repair may be covered if the problems were caused by an event that the insurance covers, such as vandalism or a windstorm. However, companies won't cover the repair if the issues are caused by neglect or wear and tear.

Yes, an excavation company is the best option for land grading and yard leveling. General landscapers might be able to tackle these projects, but an excavation company will do a better job because they’re used to operating the necessary heavy machinery. Landscapers might opt to do the work manually, which takes much longer and could cost you more in labor fees. Finally, excavation companies will understand local regulations and know when you need permits to legalize the work, while a landscaper might not.

The average cost of excavation is around $3,200. Most jobs fall somewhere between $500 and $15,000, depending on the amount of soil to remove, whether or not there are landscaping features or structures in the vicinity that could complicate the excavation, and the quality and contents of the soil. Larger jobs will naturally cost more, as will those in tight spaces that demand manual excavation as opposed to using heavy machinery. Hard soil and tree roots can also extend the job and drive up your labor costs.

Consultation with the local government helps identify necessary permits, avoid project delays or legal issues, and protect project integrity.

A joint utility trench, or joint trench, is a long, buried ditch on a property that contains two or more utility lines rather than running the lines in multiple trenches. Some utilities, like gas and electric or electric and communication lines, are better suited to joint trenching, while others, like water and sewer, are not allowed to be in the same trench.
