"As soon as the supplies came in, I was called, and they started work the next day. They laid down drop cloths and cleaned up after themselves. The plumbing changes that were needed to put in the new shower were done professionally."

"He came right to my home and quickly solved my bathtub leaking faucet problem. He was very professional and kept the cost to a minimum. Even though the part that needed to be replaced was very old."

"Shawn did a wonderful job remodeling both of my bathrooms. They were total remodels, including new cabinets, toilets, shower, bath tub, paint, base boards, etc. Shawn was on time every day, always kept me informed about how things were going, and is a perfectionist. The new bath rooms are perfect, and everyone who comes over remarks at how great they turned out. I would recommend Shawn to do any remodel project you need done. He is a great guy, honest, and very easy to work with. Thanks Shawn!"

"John and his team completed a full remodel of the bathroom on the second floor of my colonial style house. This included new removal of old tiles, insulation and original plaster. Once demolition was completed they installed new drywall, updated plumbing and electrical, subway tile throughout the bathroom, paint and bathroom accessories. The decision was made to keep the original bathtub, John and the team were able to protect it during the renovation and no damage or repair was needed as they completed the project. This is the only full bathroom in the house, Desborough Construction was able to get the bathroom completed on schedule and had the bathtub area usable after a week and a half. John was on site everyday and very responsive to questions during the process. I would recommend Desborough Construction for remodeling needs. There were no overages in the cost with the exception of the frameless shower door which was not discussed in the initial estimate."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Ensures correct plumbing connections and secure installation to prevent future water damage.

The cost to replace a bathtub is $2,000 to $9,400. Whether you want to spruce up your bathroom or your existing bathtub is not functioning correctly, purchasing a new tub costs about $5,700 with installation. Prices depend on the type and size of the tub.

Acrylic tubs can fade or turn yellow over time due to thick layers of accumulated dirt, hard water deposits from minerals, and shampoo or soap dyes. Also, as an acrylic tub ages, it may become dull or change color due to changes in the acrylic itself.

If you don’t caulk your bathtub, then there won’t be a watertight seal between your bathtub and the wall tile surrounding it. As a result, water can seep into the wall and the floor and cause the perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Not only does this require costly repairs, but mold can be harmful to those breathing it.

Yes, $5,000 is a healthy budget for a DIY bathroom renovation. It can go a long way in making the space more accessible and stylishly spa-like. Providing you stick to modest materials and don’t make any major plumbing or structural changes, you can upgrade fixtures, retile, and add some stylish bathroom accessories and savvy storage solutions to maximize the space.
