"We had a half dozen small electrical projects that had been put off for quite awhile. All Residential Electric came to our home and completed all of them in less time we expected. The price was extremely fair and the quality is top rate. Our house is very old, but they had no issues Oh, and our dogs liked them!"

"Mr.Electic and Ryan, as well as the electrician, were all amazing. My electric panel burned out at night. I called them at 10pm and they had a representative at my house the following morning. They're quote was within market rates with a bit of an expected mark-up for urgency. It was definitely reasonably priced, especially since i couldn't find anyone else able to do the job right away. Long story short, the electrician was at my house the very next day after the quote and did an AMAZING job installing a larger panel. They needed to cut the wall to make more space and did it in a way that is practically invisible from the outside. You really cannot go wrong with this provider."

If you want good work done at a very reasonable price, Go with Steve @ Quick Connect. He made quick work of our lath and plaster walls and added the 4 outlets we needed. "I estimate I have just under $100k in electronics and appliances in my house. We have significant lightning storms in my location. To NOT have lightning suppression installed is significant risk in my mind based on my location in New Jersey. RS LIGHTNING PROTECTION was responsive with a quick cost estimate and a reasonable price based on my research for installation. By the way...installation is part art, such as bends in cable are not more than 90 degrees. It's not just about running grounded cables. This installation in conjunction with surge protection on my electrical panel performed by my electrician and cable protection gives me significant piece of mind that all my appliances and electronics are protected from lightning and any potential surge generated by a near strike. Mr Richard Sherlock knows his subject. Highly recommended. Five stars."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The cost to install or replace a circuit breaker depends on the price of the unit itself and the complexity of the installation. A new circuit breaker typically costs between $10 and $100, with standard breakers being the most affordable and GFCI or AFCI types costing more. If you are upgrading to a higher amperage, a 200-amp circuit breaker can cost between $250 and $350. The average total cost for professional installation is around $700, but this price varies. A simple replacement into existing wiring will cost less than a more complex project that requires opening walls, running new wires, and securing permits.

Electric bills tend to be lower in spring and fall because people use less electricity during these seasons. Milder temperatures allow for less use of heating and cooling, unlike during winter and summer, which usually bring more extreme temperatures.

The size of your home will help determine the size of your electrical panel. Usually, the decision comes down to a 100-amp electrical panel versus a 200-amp panel. Smaller homes, especially those without an HVAC system, may be able to get by with a 100-amp panel.

If you have a larger home or need to power AC, a 200-amp panel should be the best fit. It’s unlikely that you’ll need a larger panel than that unless you have a larger home or unique electrical needs, but an electrician can help you make the final call.

To determine if an electrical outlet is blown, look for visible signs of damage such as a burning or smoky smell, burn marks, or a melted or discolored plastic cover. If you notice a burning smell, contact an electrician immediately. Other signs include a plug that keeps falling out or the outlet not working when you test it with different devices. For further troubleshooting, you can use a voltage tester or multimeter to check for power; a reading of zero indicates a problem. Also, check your circuit breaker or fuse box to see if the circuit was tripped and reset it if necessary. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the outlet may need to be replaced.

The most likely cause of accidentally flashing lights is that a regular bulb has been replaced with a flash bulb by accident. If that’s not the case, you should look for a bulb on the strand that is not quite seated properly and will lose its connection when it’s touched or moved.
