"All Around Joe has done an excellent job on all work that they've done for us over the last fifteen years. Joe Wood delivers on what he says he will do…from stopping our basement leak, to remodeling our kitchen, to remodeling out utility room, to gutting an old 10000 sq ft restaurant and creating a modern medical building, along with many smaller projects to numerous to remember. He additionally has attention to detail and the unique ability to look at an issue and then develop a solution to correct that specific problem. Joe also hires very talented, trustworthy people who have been a pleasure to work with; they have respected our time by communicating often and keeping us in the loop at all times."

"Signed the proposal for painting of the house on April 12th. Due to rainy weather in April and May the job was not started until June 20th but was completed in little over a week. I originally did not ask them to paint the garage door or the porch since I had planned to replace the garage door and have another handyman service work the porch. They provided a quick reasonable estimate for the porch and painted the garage door at no extra charge. They also painted the floor in the porch which was a pleasant surprize since it was never discussed and I did not expect this to be done. All members of the work crew were very repectful and professional and accomodated every minor change that I asked for during the work without complaint. They even came back to touch up a few areas that were damaged when the deck was pressure washed by another complany a few days after completion of the painting job. I was also very pleased with the cleanup after the job.   "

"All projects were completed with beautiful results. Their masonry division and pavers division both employ professional, seasoned crews who are assigned to the project with experienced foremen. With all of the projects there was meticulous care taken with the work, and they communicated with me about matters that came up along the way. The company was very easy to work with in negotiating the agreement, reviewing details, and getting responses to various questions along the way. There was a small group of stones, intended for capstones on a wall, that were not of the quality of the other stone, and they replaced those for me. Dan (masonry division & company) and Marty (paver division), division managers and senior managers of the company, offer careful review of their respective divisions' work and of the overall projects, and clearly care about their customers. The onsite foremen (John - masonry) and Rob (Pavers) were very careful with the details and the progress of the projects. They brought a lot of positive energy and enthusiasm to the work every day. In one instance a section of the drive wasn't to Rob's liking, and they pulled up that section and redid everything. They were careful to adjust the angles for drainage on the driveway, and were attentive to details that a lesser company might not pay attention to. They will purchase the quality of pavers/stone requested by the customer, and the Unilock pavers I chose to have installed both look beautiful, and appear to be durable also. They were attentive to protecting my home from construction dust, as I had requested, covering windows and doors in the vicinity, and cleaned up well after their work. I had a landscape design created for the overall plan for renovating the exterior of my home, and they comfortably worked with that design in establishing the dimensions of the various paver projects. I thought that the front area and driveway would look very nice as planned but it looks even better than I had hoped. Neighbors, and even the mail carrier have commented upon the awesome work; it is nice when one's neighbors can also enjoy and appreciate the results of a home project. Early in the planning stages I was deciding upon whether I was going to use HiCon's services for this work or another contractor. What tipped the balance was some advice from another contractor I had working at my home, who has had occasion to see HiCon's work over time because of the work that they do; their comment was that they thought I should contract with HiCon because their work is excellent and really holds up over time. Where this other contractor might see a more amateurishly constructed patio start to show signs of wear after a few years, the HiCon structures they have had occasion to see are often there many years later, still in good shape. I couldn't be more pleased with the work."

"The quality of work was outstanding. When I realized that this job was going to involve going in through the drywall, my biggest fear was that you'd be able to tell that a hole had existed in the wall. By the time I came back to look at the work, you'd never be able to tell how extensive the work was. We replaced all of the faucets from builder grade silver to oiled bronze to update the house and it was all done perfectly. On the bathtub, the existing fittings didn't match the new faucet, even with them being the same brand, and they were able to retrofit the hardware to get it to fit without having to damage the tub or the external tile work. I'm impressed! Our bathrooms look like new now!"

"I was thoroughly impressed by Lucky 7. We had gotten three quotes for the painting work, including Lucky 7. Not only were they the most reasonably priced of the three, but they had great Angie's List reviews and were able to schedule our work very quickly, which was a bonus. Buddy and Casey were assigned to our home, and they were fantastic -- very skilled, professional, and friendly. It took them about five days to complete the work. Chris, the owner, stopped by a number of times throughout the week to bring supplies and to check in, which I appreciated. The wall painting they did was fabulous, but I have to say a special word about the railing "project" they took on. When we moved into our home, the railings were that medium builders' oak color that was original to the 16-year-old house -- and not very attractive, IMO. A designer suggested we paint the railings black and the spindles white. It sounded strange at first, but after enlisting Lucky 7's help, we couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. This was a big project and Lucky 7 not only took it on, but ensured that it was done the right way -- fully sanding and priming the railing before painting two coats of black (and freshening up the white spindles with a fresh coat). It looks beautiful! We have hired pro painters in the past and we think Lucky 7 is right up there with the best. I am a detail-oriented person, and I had a hard time finding any issues once they were finished. We will likely need to hire painters again and will not hesitate to call Lucky 7."

"Jason Griggs and his small team did an awesome job! The quality and attention to detail that he brings to the job are excellent. Because he is highly rated on Angie's List, he was also in high demand. While I could afford to wait almost 3 months for him to have an opening, it was worth the wait. I was very satisfied. It was completed several days earlier than initially estimated, too. I had a two-story family room with very high ceilings, crown molding with intricate detail, columns that required detailed trim, and about 10 rooms, a two-story entryway/foyer, long hallways, and a loft. It was an extensive amount of work. Not only was the quality top-notch, but Jason is very good at communicating and doing what he says he will do. He kept me posted when they would begin, gave me daily updates, and when the job was near finished, he walked through the entire house with me to ensure I was satisfied. He consistently worked an 8-hour day, showed up between 8:00-8:30am each day, and finished between 4:30-5:00pm. He was great to work with, respected my property, cleaned up well each day, and when the job was complete, removed everything and left my house in the same condition it was prior to the start of work. His team will move furniture, remove draperies, fixtures, etc. for you. He will put furniture back and he will re-install anything that needs to be put back up. He is a conscientious professional and is respectful and deferential to the customer. He is a refreshing professional to deal with, on top of being a great painter. I could not be at the house every day, as I had to work, and I was able to trust him with my garage code to come and go as needed. He and his team proved to be trustworthy, and after a couple days, I had no worries at giving he and his crew open access to my house and the belongings. You will be very happy working with Jason and he will do a great job for you. I am a picky customer and I really demand high quality. So if I can be satisfied, anyone can be satisfied. Oh, and I found his prices to be pretty reasonable, too."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Rather than using a common two-by-four piece of wood for a rafter, you probably will use two-by-six, two-by-eight, two-by-ten, or even two-by-twelve boards. Wider lumber is typically a better choice in a larger building as it provides more sturdiness. Some installers may use wider lumber for rafters near the edges of the roof, where the greatest stress occurs, and save money with narrower lumber toward the middle.

Concrete blocks are the cheapest way to base a shed. However, the space in between allows critters to go under, burrow, and even damage your shed’s frame. For a more pest-proof option, consider building a shed base with gravel or paver stones. Both options are fairly affordable and easy enough for a DIY project. For gravel, you can build a wooden frame to contain the loose material.

The time it takes to build a shed heavily depends on the type of shed you buy. A prefab shed can be built in 4 to 8 hours, while a custom shed will be built off-site over the span of 2 to 5 days. It then takes a few hours, depending on the location, to move the finished shed to its final location.

American badgers sleep in the burrows they dig, which can be extensive, featuring multiple chambers and tunnels. Badgers prefer to excavate their dens in open grasslands, prairies, and fields where the soil is easy to dig. They are solitary animals and usually have several burrows within their territory to use as needed. These underground homes provide them with a safe and secure place to rest during the day and to raise their young.

The best lumber for building will be the strongest and most eco-friendly wood your budget allows. That being said, Douglas fir, pine, oak, and maple are all common building materials. Contractors will use a strong, inexpensive wood to frame a house or other structure and finer woods like mahogany for detail work.
