"This was a great experience from start to finish. They arrived on time got and got the work done with zero mess even though this involves drilling a large hole in the basement floor. The system did what it’s supposed to do and reduced radon levels to almost 0. I am very happy with this company and would highly recommended them. The price was great too."

"Radon pros was awesome...they had clear communication throughout the process and made it happen. I don't know much about radon but the tech educated me and I didn't waste a bunch of money on a below ground vacuum."

"The installation of radon system was good. They were on time and very nice and cleaned up well afterward but have not been able to get a hold of the company since then to schedule retest. The phone number indicates that voice mail is full and have texted the number with no response and have also emailed them."

"Ohio Radon Specialists is a fantastic company to work with. They first sparked my interest by quoting me with the lowest price I received from radon companies in my area. My technician arrived on time and was very professional. My home had high levels of radon and Ohio Radon Specialists dramatically reduced the amount of radon in my home. I highly recommend them."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is naturally present everywhere, it is impossible to avoid entirely. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action to reduce radon levels if your home's test results are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.

Testing every 2-5 years or upon adjusting occupancy or structural changes maintains safe environments.

Your radon fan needs to operate 24/7 to be effective. The only time the fan isn't operating is during its replacement. Radon levels in the home can increase within hours if the fan stops working or something obstructs the stack vent. Fortunately, radon systems require no downtime maintenance between fan changes.

The cost for a radon mitigation system typically ranges from $800 to $1,500, with an average around $1,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the severity of the radon issue, and the type of system required. Your home's foundation type also significantly impacts the cost. For example, sealing and ventilating an unfinished basement might cost around $4,600, while encapsulating a crawl space without a foundation slab can range from $1,500 to $15,000.
